No Clearcoat: What now?

After purchasing a PC , Megs Pads, and a couple bottles of SSR1 and SSR2 I was informed that my car did not come w/ clearcoat from the factory. My question is how do you detail a car w/o a clear coat? also, are all of the products that I just bought useless now? Someone please give me some insight. Thanks -Ryan

What kind of car is it? No, you can use the stuff you have on a single stage paint. I would imagine the detailing process would be the same, save for the fact that you will probably want to shy away form abrasive products in favor of chemicla cleaning type products. What you have is fine though.

Products...

The PC and the Poorboys product that you mentioned will perform just as well on single stage (non-clearcoated) paint. Just be careful as you would with clearcoat not to cut to deep into the paint while compounding. A magnetic paint thickness guage (about $50) would also be a good investment.

I bought mine from Detail Plus ($50) about 3 years ago. Maybe Dwayne can find both a magnetic and digital guage that PAC can offer ???

Thanks guys - I got to try a digital one at the clinic last week, and it was really cool, but when I checked out the price - it was a little HIGH!!! IIRC @ $ 700!!!
How are the magnetics to work with? I think that might be more in my budget @ $50 or so.

:yeah I'd use lower speeds and just take your time....if you have PP or PwC they are chemical cleaners and would probably ease your mind a bit.
