No. 915 vs. #16

What are the differences. I am thinking of trying No. 915, I have #16 already. I typically use sealants, but I'm bored so I thought I would try something new.



Any thoughts?

I've found that 915 gives a wetter look and looks better on dark colors than Megs 16.

If I had to compared 915 to another wax I'd say its look was very close to FK Pink Wax, but its more durable and smells a lot better.

Megs 16 is my favorite on silver and white but on most other colors it just doesn't do it for me.
 
Agreed that 915 looks best on dark colors, and on those it does look fantastic. And it does have the expected durability, but if you have wondered if a wax can truly mute flake, this one will convince you.

Hmmmm......mute flake? Not sure I really want to do that since I have a steel gray BMW with some pretty cool flake.

I have been using No. 915 for years and is one of the best waxes I have ever used. Very inexpensive, easy on & off and lasts for a while!
 
Hmm, all of these posts praising 915 by very reputable detailers has me thinking. I have read for years on this forum that 915 was just relabeled 476s, I guess that was just a rumor (and it was started by the folks at Collinite, no less).

I was waiting for the old 915=476 to come up.

I don't know why Collinite would have but out the wrong info, maybe they just don't really understand that some people, that would be us, can see the difference in their waxes. :confused:



If you have ever tried to wash your pads after using 476 or 915 the difference is like night and day. :think:



915 can be removed from the application pad. :getdown

476 is just about impossible to remove. :sosad
 
I am not a big carnauba person due to it's lower durability, but 915 has proved me wrong. The look is amazing and it's durability is great. It is easy on easy off.



Top it off with Z8 and gets it's even better.
 
I agree that the folks at Collinite underestimate the difference between 915 and 476. I don't know why, if anything I'd have thought they'd highlight their differences. For one thing, 915 has 24% more carnauba content, which seems like a significant increase. 915 is popular in the U.K. It's spoken of frequently (usually for dark colors) on Detailing World. Here it is on black.

This ad describing it as new shows Tim Mcadam as the winner of the 1992 sebring so I'd guess about 15 years. Practically new in Collinite terms.:chuckle:

I *may* try it out, God knows I really don't need another LSP, 476 is just not fun to use for me, an easy to use Collinite would be great.
 
I think durability is too close to call. They're both outstanding. And I wouldn't get rid of one for the other, they both have their own identity. You will likely find that #16 can't be beat on metallics and brights, and 915 is better on darks.
