No. 7 Chrome Polish

No. 7 Chrome Polish, has anyone ever used this?

I was told this is the BEST chrome polish out there and that Windex should NEVER be used because it will eventually start to haze the chrome...

I used No. 7 products over 10 years ago...their compound, polish, chrom polish,etc.....even used the powder soap a few times.

These days I'm pretty impressed with Wenol. I think there are better choices out there for metal and chrome care these days than No. 7.

Yeah, that ECP sure sounds like it could be the best. It is a system I think made up of 4 polishes ( each can be used individually) from cleaning all the way to final, very light metal polishing

I have become a fan of Mother's metal polishes, both the powermetal and the liquid version of their chrome polish used along with the powerball. I brought some 20 year old machined aluminum wheels back to life along with some trim off of a '57 chevy last week.

Yep, its what originally put them on the map. They're still the kings of OTC metal polishes.

I've also tried the NXT Metal Polysh on chrome, which was an excellent cleaner and brightener.

Both Mothers and NXT leave polymer protection on the chrome that prevents fingerprints and soiling. The Mothers polish is better in that department...really slick and slippery finish - hard to fingerprint.

these 2 are the one's your referring to... correct?

and the Mothers still out-preforms the new NXT?

Yes, they're the ones.

I meant the Mothers out-performs the NXT in the slickness of the polymer it applies...an important element for me on chrome...I hate fingerprints and smears!

As far as polishing ability, I did a side-by-side on my Alfa's chrome intake pipes (my avatar) and NXT *seemed* to create a brighter, more silvery gloss. It definately was substantially more abrasive...I could hear the abrasives like sand-paste. (Use sparingly, it doesn't require much. With Mothers you can go to town).

I like both of them for different uses. If your chrome is perfect and want a good clean and protection - Mothers.

If it needs a bit of restoration - NXT followed by extra protection/slickness (Mothers Metal Polish or any slick sealant).

No. 7 apparently used to be big among people with motorcycles. My uncle uses it on the chrome on his Harley, and his best friend has used it for years. I must say the chrome on my uncle's Harley looks mighty good.
