Nick’s unsolicited claying tips and tricks

I don't understand the need to have to wash the car after you're done with the claying. I used the Mothers package and since you're using a detaily spray, there should be no need for having to wash the car. Am I wrong thinking this??
There doesn’t seem to be a consensus of opinion about the need for an after claying wash. Here’s my take on it:

If you use a shampoo/water solution as your lubricant and do a thorough rinse after claying each section, then IMO a final wash is not needed.

If you use a QD or dedicated lube, then I’d be afraid of loose debris remaining on the surface which could cause scratching when you go to the polishing phase.

I, on the other hand, am in that other camp. When I use the Mothers package (as you did), after claying and wiping off, I give it a final spritz of QD and wipe-down, and move on. Never needed to wash. Different strokes ...

Nope. I say burn it. Dropping clay is an issue. If you use small pieces of clay then it is better. I cut a 100g bar into 3 pieces usually and am not afraid to buy another bar. When it comes to my paint I don't see why I would spend so much money on polish and sealant and wax and then squeeze my cheeks when it comes to getting a new $10 bar of clay. Might as well start the job right. :xyxthumbs

I totally agree here. Its worth spending $10 on a new clay bar to save my paint:up

It’s funny how we often fall into the trap of trying to save a dollar or two when dealing with a multi-thousand dollar car.

Good observation :xyxthumbs I also think of how trying to save a dollar or two can end up costing one a lot of time.
