Hey guys i just used my pc for first time. I went ahead and did the orange sonus pad with SSR2.5. I did the hood 3 times but only got maybe 65-70% of the swirls out. Do i need to step up to SSR3? I divided my hood into 4 sections and its a civic, so i think the area wasnt too big. I guess my car was worse off than I originally thought. What would you do next?? Also im assuming im putting enough product. I make a small line of product across the length of the pad. Any suggestions?

you could try stepping up to a cutting pad, though sometimes the swirls are just too deep to remove safely, ie not take away too much clearcoat.
also, move the PC slowly and allow it time to work on the paint. maybe try working a smaller area, that way you can concentrate on finding out which technique works best for you. lastly, with a cutting pad, SSR 2.5 may leave behind some light hazing. SSR 1 with a polishing pad is good at removing this light hazing. if you don't have SSR 1, you can also use SSR 2.5 with a polishing pad, but i don't recommend this as the first option as the SSR 2.5 may be too aggressive for removing the light hazing.

I have SSR1. Sun was in and out but i didnt see any noticable hazing. I thought the orange sonus pad was a cutting pad? Also how many vehicles can i get from a bottle of ssr2.5? I put a noticable dent in the amount for the hood 3 times and half the trunk. Should I be liberal with the amount of polish. Heres my proces.
I put the polish on the pad then place it on car to spread some of it.. turn pc at 3 to spread it gently then i crank it to say 5. I was gettn "dusting" rather quickly. Should i put more. How long before i start seeing dust.

"If you can see the swirls in all lighting, then start with SSR2.5 on a polishing pad...prime the pad with product not water, making a circle on the pad and then rubbing it into the pad. Then make another small circle around the pad, tap it to the car, start the pc on the car at a low speed and spread over area to be worked. Then turn it up to about 5-5.5 and work it until it just about disappears. Wipe off and check what you have ...repeat if needed. Then change pads and use the SSR1 the same way. (I prefer SSR1 at speeds of 4-5) and continue until you are happy."
The orange pad is a light cut/polish pad and should do a decent job unless you have hard paint or very deep swirls. You might want to try some 4" pads, they cut a little better since they won't bog down as much with a PC:
