Newest - v. Saab Towed, Malibu Maxx, Highlander, Gr. Cherokee

Hey Sean,

One of my clients owns two Saabs. A 2001 9-5 SE, and a 2002 9-3, both are white (thank goodness).

His 9-3 was purchased new in '02. The car currently has 49k miles and obviously, is at the end of it's warranty.

In 49k miles, this car has at the dealer for:

Electrical fire under the hood.
Bad turbo.
Faulty driver's seat belt. (Huge safey issue!)
Misalingned doors, interior trim pieces, etc.
A/C compressor failed twice, condesor failed once.
Unresolved electrical gremlins.
Many other issues I've forgotten about.

At any rate, WARRANTY repairs alone tallied over $6500. Who want's to spend that kind of money out of pocket in the first 2yrs/50k? Not me.

His wife's 9-5, however, has been pretty much problem free, except for the ABS control module, the COMPLETE A/C replacement, and some brake issues. But then again, hers is a garage queen with only 22k miles.

Needless to say, now that the 9-3 is two spits away from no warranty coverage, he's put it up for sale.

Interestingly, his 97 9-3 went to 97k miles virtually trouble free. Until he got rear-ended by a dump truck.

My 2 cents.

Mike

Hi Mike,

Just spoke to my girlfriend. She has added this to the list:

-Faulty Driver's seatbelt as well! (Saab charged her for a new retractor)
-Leaky Windows
-Ignition Problems (Key was out, still dinged when door was open, radio wouldn't shut off)

I dk...I never had problems like this with any of my cars?

Man, great work as always . I do use the woolite mix on the dash and doors with great results. but haven't got the oxy/mix down yet. Thanks for giving tips and listing your products to help us newcomers. aloha
