Hey Guys,

What can I say about this guy that has not already been said? One of Autopia's greatest has decided to join the 3D team. This guy has been a huge asset to the forum over the years and his knowledge and technical expertise has been second to none. :hail:

Without further adieu, I would like to introduce Thomas Dekany, the new product support specialist for 3D and HD!!!

Wanted to welcome you officially to the 3D Team and look forward to your continue great postings here on Autopia. :grouphug:

Welcome Thomas!

A little birdie called my phone a few days ago and told me Mel Craig left and went to Meguiars...

Congradulations Thomas!! It couldn't have happened to a nicer, more knowledgeable Autopian! I wish you tons of luck and look forward to the great things you will be bringing to the 3D team. Thomas was the 1st person to recognize the integrity of 3D/Tunch and has been a die hard advocate ever since. They, as well as Autopia, is lucky to have a person like you full time on their team. Smart move Tunch!!!

You may not be, but I am shocked! I never thought I'd work for someone else again. :D

Nothing wrong with getting paid to do a job you were pretty much doing for free already anyway.... ;)

Thank you Ben for welcoming me to the team. I am very happy to be a part of 3D.

David, I appreciate your kind words - they mean a lot coming from you.

Mike, Dan, Al, and everyone else who replied: Thank you as well.

I realize how outspoken I have been about HD UNO (and most other 3D products) for nearly 3 years but I really really enjoyed using UNO from the very first pass I made with it.

That was a big turning point for me as a detailer.... A compound that didn't dust and corrected the paint 100% in that 1x1 section! I was so happy, I still remember that evening.

Anyway, I guess you can say that I never looked back after that day. I kept placing my orders like everyone else with 3D and I realized that I was using the HD products over the other lines I was still using at that time. One day, I simply gathered every other polish/glaze/compound and I got rid of almost all of them. I gave them away to other detailers or they went into the trash.

"Detailing made simple" definitely made sense to me.

Even though I was invited to the Autopia 10th year anniversary party last summer, which was an amazing event, I had no intention to be part of 3D and nothing was ever discussed. I mean I live in Portland and 3D is in LA. However I really enjoyed spending time with and getting to know Tunch, the chemist who developed HD UNO and the owner of AUTOPIA, and both David and Barry would agree with me on this: He is a real character! So when I came back from LA, I had a much better picture of what 3D was about. I actually felt proud to be using the line, knowing that I was supporting a bunch of really great guys.

I was asked to go to SEMA last November and help out. I agreed. I was hoping to spend more time with Tunch and pick his brain, but I ended up working the whole time, from opening to closing, the 3D booth was that busy. No big deal, I got a chance to talk about HD UNO for 40 hours. That I liked. :D

That was the first time Tunch has mentioned anything about me and 3D, but that was it. We kept in touch and in April once again I was invited to attend the grand opening of 3D's new flagship store. At this point I was told that I could work from home if I was interested in a position.

This is my story and I'm sticking to it. :dance

I am very proud to be a 3D member and I will do my best to help anyone with what ever questions you may have about 3D/HD products or detailing in general. And because I am a detailer first, I know the other products as well. If I know, you'll know. I believe in sharing knowledge.

Like most of you, I don't do this as a 9-5 job. If I am up, I'll answer your calls/emails/texts etc...

I am ready!!!!

Thomas,

I just wanted to take a minute and say how incredible this is for both you and 3D. Your a great man and a true class act. Your honesty and integrity will be a huge asset to 3D and the detailing community in general. Your a very experianced detailer with lots of real world trial and error. Oh and your comment about not working for anyone else ever again. Hey at your age thats not really a bad thing!
