6Gear - definately keep us posted! Im in a similar position as you and I am about to get a polisher and some products and go at it for the first time too
 
I've started. Pictures to come tomorrow. Being a newb is rough, man! My hands are red as hell from the UDM, but I think I've got it down now. Stay tuned.
 
I've finished. I couldn't get all the minor scratches out, nor some of the etching on the hood, but its better than it was. Especially for sitting in a garage for 3 years while we were in Italy. I'll post up closer pics when the El Paso winds aren't blowing like they are, and I can rinse the fine sand off (the El P is terrible on vehicles).



P21S Totaly auto wash the wheels, wheel wells, and engine bay

P21S Wheel gel the wheels with EX Detail brush (awesome)

Z-7 wash

SFX-2 entire car, with a little help of Menzerna IP with orange pad

SFX-1 on parts of the hood

SFX-3 entire car

303 protectant in the engine bay, wheel wells, and all trim

Z-5 x 3 entire car

Z-6 wipe down

Z-2 x 2 entire car

Z-8 finale

Sonus tire and trim dressing on tires

Autoglym glass polish on Sonus yellow spot pad on all glass (got out all the hard water spots).

Megs Plastix with Sonus yellow spot pad on headlights (got all the yellow out, total difference now).

Mothers polish on Corsa tips



I'm bringin' 1998 back!!! I'll work on it a little more, getting the hang of things. And I'm sure there are some other products and techniques I could learn from the board in order to achieve better results. All, thanks for the help! Autopia, thanks for a great site.
