Newbie question regarding buffers

I'm doing the research to make sure I buy a good quality da buffer. I am really hoping to leach some knowledge from those of you who have experience with these devices.

I know that the popular device of late has been the PC 7424, but in my research I don't see any difference between it and a 7336 which I can buy locally. I know the 7424's used to come with a 5" counterweight, but from what I've read PC has upped that to a 6" counterweight as well meaning no difference between the two. What I am really confused about is the Meguiars G100A. It looks like a PC, but is it? Anyone have any experiences with multiple devices that could provide some practical insight/comparison for the newbie?

Thanks in advance!

To my understanding they are all three the same, maybe with differnet counterweights, but basically the same machine. The meguiar's one is just a PC for twice the price, though it does come with a backing plate, which the 7336 and 7424 dont. You would have to buy the backing plate seperately. I bought a 7336 from lowes for 110$ and love it.

The 7424 and 7336 are the same except the 7336 is marketed as a polisher and sander. It also comes with a 6in counterweight which is what you want when using 6in pads. Go ahead and pick up the 7336 locally. Then buy the backing plate and pads or look into the Edge system.

Thanks for the help! The million dollar question now boils down to 110 for the 7336 or 150 for the G100A. Is the 50 bucks additional justified for having a PC that already comes with the backing plate and a lifetime warranty (which Meguiars supplies with all G100s)

For the 40 dollars (by my math) difference you can buy the backing plate for +/- $20, leaving $20 difference between the 2.
Lifetime warranty? Does that mean replacement or limited? If if is replacement then It may be worth it, especially if you use a lot. If it is limited, then it may not be worth it.

I bought a 7336 @ Lowes for $99.00 and $ 15.00 for a backing plate.
I agree with the depends on what that warranty really covers.
Maybe worth the extra $$$$$ but I have used mine twice in the last year not going to wear out very fast at that rate. After you get your car swirl free make every effort to keep it that way and you won't need to remove swirls more than once or twice a year.
