Newbie needs help: Cyclo and FP

This is my first post after spending hours and hours browsing the forum learning about detailing. It's a great place!

I've started to practice my technique and procedures with my new tools on one of our cars, a white MB stationwagon from 1986. I'm using Menzerna IP and FP with Cyclo. Using IP with the Cyclo went great. I'm really pleased with the result. I continued with FP but I'm not getting the results I want. And now I have a problem...

FP is hazing up and it's almost impossible to remove with a towel. I've tried working faster, slower, more pressure, less pressure. Help!

(When I'm done with the polishing I'll apply a coat of Grojet 2000.)
 
Sound like the vehicle is oxidized and you did not remove all of it with the IP you need to go with a high speed with a more agressive pad [poly/wool blend pad] is my choice
 
The pad I've used is a yellow foam pad (both with IP and FP). After using IP the paint is really shiny and smooth. Could it still be oxidized?
 
"Gluezerna"?! That's how it feels, but...

I've tried different ways of working with the product, and when luck is on my side the results are excellent. I'm sure that it's my technique, and not the products that is at fault.
 
Are you using the same pad to apply both products without cleaning it? I don't know too much about that, but if that's what you're doing some poeple on here might say that's the wrong thing to do.
 
You are definately using the proper pad, the yellow pad for the Cyclo is the Cutting Pad. Green = Polishing Pad and White = Finishing Pad. Good luck.
 
I've had the "Gluezerna" issues with a PC but only once while practicing with my rotary. I think it is really designed for the rotary.

Some alternative Cyclo size pads are 4" Lake Country pads, They are the same thing lots of folks use with their PC just smaller :bigups
 
Could it be that the product is "breaking down" to fast when used with the Cyclo? I think it does 3200 rpm (not adjustable).
 
Hmm.I can't say about the Cyclo ( but I'm eyeing one for sometime down the road :D ) but I think with the PC the Menzerna isn't breaking down fast enough and isn't hot enough, thus, the glue like appearance in the end.
 
Ok, I see your point. Maybe my lack of experience with different tools has led me to draw the wrong conclusion. I don't have any other tool so I'll try with a little more pressure and time than when using IP.
 
Yep, the IP can be effective by PC even if you do get some of the "Gluezerna" issues. Don't be afraid to crank the PC up to 6 and add some pressure to it
 
I appreciate your comments and suggestions. Thanks! BTW, I can recommend the Cyclo. I can't compare it to other tools, but it's the kind of tool that you hold in your hand and just "know" that it's good.
 
Yeah, I've been highly encouraged to get it, As nuts as I am, I'm sure in time I'll get it to say I own all three, a dual action polisher, a Cyclo and a rotary :D
