Hello everyone. Recently traded a 2001 Ford F150 pickup for a 2005 Subaru WRX Sport wagon. What a blast to drive. I'll be fifty years young tomorrow so I guess I'm trying to relive my youth with the new sports car! :yes: Anyway, I love working on my vehicles, and discovered this wonderful place here. Hope to learn a bunch. Thanks for having me. :stuart:

I'm about 5 years ahead of you (double nickel) and have enjoyed all 35 years of my detailing experiences.... had cancer twice... didn't even think about giving up detailing!!! (Cancer free now BTW)...

You can spend HOURS on this website, browsing, searching, etc., and never get tired of it.

I'll bet you can't wait to get started on your NEW ROO !!!!

Thank you Bill. My new scoob was a leftover at the dealer so the finish left a lot to be desired. You can imagine after being looked at and test driven by who knows how many. Anyhow the day after I brought it home I washed it, got out my PC and polished it with Menzerna final polish and put on a coat of Blackfire. Looked pretty good but I work all over the country and my car sits sometimes for 20 days or so outside, so after I go home this time, I'm going to do it all over and clay it. I also ordered some Menzerna FMJ I've been wanting to try so I'll polish again to remove the Blackfire and hopefully two coats of FMJ. I'm also thinking about a car cover so it's not exposed to the elements while I'm working but I'm afraid that if it's not spotlessly clean when I cover it, I'll do more harm than good. Any thoughts on the car cover? Maybe if I get to work early enough I could wash it real quick, use a QD spray, then cover it? I'm thinking. Thanks for your welcome message. Basically, your car needs to be really clean, and you just have to be very careful when you put it on and take it off. Also, in windy, dusty conditions, dirt and dust can blow under the cover.

They are not ideal, but if you can't park it under shelter, it's not a bad alternative.

Be sure to get one with a very soft, thick cotton flannel liner. (and get a light color)....

You say you are a EHV Helocopter Lineman. You are not one of the nutty guys that works on electricity lines from a helicopter are you? I so that on TV one time, craziest thing ever. Really cool.
 
Yea, thats me on the helicopter working on the power lines! :yes: It is a really cool job but I'm away from home too much and miss my family. I have a wonderful wife and two fantastic boys. One nine and one five. When I drive to our home office in Gettysburg, PA. about once a month, my scooby sits outside in the weather until I get back to drive it home. I really don't like to do that but I have no choice, so I like to make sure it's got at least two good coats of wax on it and 303 on all the rubber. Posted pics in the detailing showcase.
