I have decided to sell my 996 (dark met blue), and wanted to know what would be the best way to make it look good for sale (given long liverty of finish is not important). I was going to Zaino 3m the lot when I was going to keep it, but I will save this for the replacement. The car has minor swirls and tiny lacker surface scratches etc (only realy see it bright light). Do you think a Carbarna wax is the best for filling imperfections and giving it the best look. When I got the car about 6 months ago the wax finish in the Porsche showroom looked fantastic. Any sugestions welcome.
 
How about One Grand Glaze followed by One Grand Blitz wax, the glaze has some fillers but it depends on the size of the swirls or if you already have Zanio put on as many layers as you can.

Since durability is not a concern I would do this: Put some 3M Imperial Hand Glaze on it, and then wax with the cheapest *non-cleaner* caranuba you have. The IHG will make it look fantastic, but it just won't last very long. Do this about 1 day before you have people look at the car. :up
 
I think this really depends on the quality of your paint and bodywork. If you have dings, scratches, rework, etc., I would not go for the best shine in the world. I would just wash, and perhaps quick detail. The perfect shine works like the perfect microscope and will show every flaw. Spend time cleaning and shining up the interior, wheels, and tires, which is what most common folk go crazy over...
 
Thanks for the replys. I have been looking at the forumn for some time and have my Zaino routine worked out - I even tried the leaf blower trick to dry my wifes beetle the other weekend. My tip on this is do not put to much oil in the 2 stroke petrol, as I ended up blowing oil splats onto her car (you live and learn). On the car front lowejackson, I was going to get another 996 just a newer one with a few options that I realise I realy miss on my current car (Memory seats - it would help as you need to move the seat everytime I put my 9 month old baby in the back), GPS, Full leather dash. The car looks great to all my friends, however I can see the small marks etc it has picked up. What ever the dealer used in the showroom was fantastic, and it lasted for a good couple of months (only drove it on nice days). However now it is showing small swirls etc. I have not heard of the £M Hand Glace, but I guess it has a good lot of fillers (What type of application is this normaly used for ? - show cars ?), so I will be checking it out on the 3m website tonight. Anyway thatnks for the info. I have attempted to attach a pic of my car from the day I picked it up.
 
Just reading the 3m website. The hand glaze removes swirls, how does this compair in abrasive terms to the 3m Swirl Remover. Also anyone tried the 3M Fill 'N Glaze product.
 
I've never used the 3m products, but I can put a vote in for finesse-it. worked wonders for me. I used it on a real dark purple car, and was verty pleased with the results. Took alot of elbow grease, but in the end I couldn't have been happier. . (unitil i hit a turkey with it:P, but thats another story) If you just want to fill the swirls a good wax should take care of that fine for you. Also, if the surface is a little rough, ya might want to do a quick clay on it.
 
#7 glaze, do it about 3x, let it cure good inbetween and before buff off and it seems to work great...... follow with #26 or GC, or whatever carnauba without cleaners you have. Hell, throw turtle wax at it if you want!! :eek:



or if you want to do something really quick, do NuFinish followed by cheap carnauba. :scared



that really makes me sound like "BillyJo's Used Car Lot Recon Guy - The True Professional" doesnt it.....lol...... :o
 
Hey.. if you have trouble selling the Porsche, would ya consider trading it for my very well taken care of '96 pathy? :D the Porsche would have a great owner, i can assure you of that, and the Pathy might be a little easier for you to sell ;)
 
Hello everyone.

Just want to make a brief introduction myself. Have been in automotive's after market industry and detailing distributor for 3 years. I have to admit that I can't live without "Detailing" aka Addicted to detailing.
Recently, when I ordered stuffs from PAC (Jack and Mike) what I have received that goes beyond my expectation at first is I got new friends.

In my country "Thailand" many peoples stick to Meguiar's brand for a decade though several years ago everything kinda changed. Now there are various brands such like Autoglym, Chemical Guys, Pinnacle, Wolfgang etc...

Anyway, for myself I have to say that now I'm in love with BF Wet Ice Over Fire Shine combination.
