Hi gang,
I've been lurking and have gotten some great info. If I may, I'll babble for a bit and then ask some questions.
Also I hope that no one minds, but I put my questions in bold text. I'm just not the most articulate person and Ive been on the Internet long enough to know that hidden questions will get over looked.
After I possibly wasted some money at PepBoys on products that I never used, I used
Jngrbrdman's regimen. So I , washed, clayed, washed, 4 Star UPC, DACP (hand), Four Star UPP x 2 (hand 24 hour cure),, no wax yet. The paint felt great after the claying. Real great after UPC, very smooth and looked (to my newbie eyes) like it had been waxed. The DACP left a slight rubbery feel, the surface wasn't as smooth. Also it was harder to get off of some areas. The roof was the worse and the hood was the easiest. I imagine that the roof had been skipped at times by the previous owner. The hood is a non-factory coat of paint and I had waxed it with what even wax come with my clay.
I do have some questions about the order to do things and where to jump when you want to spruce thing up. The DACP reaction to the surface has made me think. Lets say I want the best results, for like when everyone get together and pops the hood.
Do you need to take of the wax and UUP before you use the polishes?
I'm not too sure about EX. If I ever switch to PB, and I think I might, I'll probably use EX-P. It just seems logical to me that if you are going to seal with multi-layers you use a pure sealant.
Any comments?
What if anything can you put over a Carnauba wax?
I'm getting a PC Friday. The truck has been driven once so I'll wash it and start with the DACP. And the wax I bought P21s
Any comments on my steps? Should I add in some #9 after the DACP?So my total all day plan that makes my neighbor's think I'm on crack would be, wash NXT, clay, wash, UPC, DACP (PC), #9 (PC), UPP x 2 (24 hour cure), P21s
x 2?,
The swirls don't look too bad. So I'll start with DACP and pad The Edge DA 2000 Blue Polishing Pad. If that doesn't work I'll use the Yellow. Then blue with #9 and white with the UPP and P21s.
