Hey everyone.....I drive a champagne silver 1993 Acura Legend Coupe and its spring, so that means detailing time!:)

Anyways, I got it painted last year in July and I have yet to wax it or anything. I have a guy in town that wants to do a 3M paint sealant on my car for $90. After searching through the forms, I have seen that some people recommend in this order:

Clean
Polish
Clay
Paint Sealant
Wax

So.....what do you guys recommend for my car? I dont mind spending money but I dont want to go over board.

Also, is this 3M stuff any good?

What process is best?

Would I be fine with just doing the sealant?

This forum is really cool and this smiley :band is freakin great!

Thanks! :)

Ask him if you get all that for your 90 bucks or if he is just going to apply the 3m sealant ;)

if not then you can do better yourself by hand for much less!

Nope.....just the sealant. And its in Canadian $$$ too....

Sealant is just a fancy word to make consumers feel the need to spend more money. Wax is a sealant, but you wouldn't pay someone that much to just wax your car, would you?

Mckenzie . . . Nice looking ride. Great to see the Legend looking good. I hardly ever see them in my neck of the woods any more and when I do they're rather "ratty" looking.

My Two cents on your question about 3M products: Personally I like the Finesse-it II machine polish (39003) for getting out scratches. For some reason 3M is not that popular on the detailing forums. Some do swear by their paste wax. I tried their QD and wasn't that impressed with it.

If you go the route with carnubas then you might want to spend the money on Pinnacle waxes. Superb !

However, there are so many good products available today that you can't lose with whatever you choose.

Let us know what you decide and send some pics.
