Newb needs help with carpet cleaning.

First off, great site I love it! I've spent the last week reading and ordering a ton of supplies, far more then I should have but oh well. Anyways, I'm looking for some recommendations for a product that is good for getting carpets looking good again. I've read about HD's Total that looks pretty good. What else would you guys suggest for getting my grey carpets looking a bit newer?

Folex which you can buy at local hardware stores. I found that GTechniq W2 works better, have to order it from England though.
 
I use ProChem carpet chemicals, they are SSSOOOOO much better than folex. The results are night and day. You will need an extractor for best results, but with some jimmy rigging you can use hot water in a pump sprayer and a strong shop vac (wet).



Here are the results, after ONE pass of cleaning.

No offense Greg, but it doesn't look that wonderful, or did you only do the top half? Could be that you didn't post any before pics. How many passes did you need to get it clean?

the first photo you can clearly see that top section is cleaned and the bottom is what I was working to clean....50/50 shot.



the second photo the right side is still dirty, the left is cleaned up.

Makes a lot more sense now you clarified it. Looked at the ProChem site...wow, way too many products to figure out what to use (me).
 
Folex has gotten every stain out for me. Last year I had some horrible cars that needed much attention.

If it isn't broke don't fix it I say.

Which ProChem cleaner are you using?

I would like to try their cleaner in my Rug doctor machine.

Ultra pac traffic clean (Intermediate cleaning solution)



Hydro break (Basic cleaning solution)



Power Burst (Heavy duty cleaning solution)



Citrus Solv (Great pre spotter, or add directly to one of the solutions to help with greasy, oily areas)



De-foamer (reduces the amount of foam in your tank you can add this to your pre spray sprayer)



All fiber rinse (The final rinse stage used to restore the Ph balance to the carpets and reduce re staining.)



Liquid Slurry (The second step in the deep cleaning of carpets, use after one of the solutions above and before all fiber rinse stage.)

Besides using an extractor like Greg posted above, you can also do it the old fashion way:



*Vacuum

*Dry Brush

*Pre-spot grease/oil-based spots with solvent-based cleaner

*Pre-soak with HD TOTAL>>aggitate

*3D Upholstery & Carpet Shampoo>>scrub

*Vacuum

*Towel

*Blow dry with cool/warm (not hot) air
