New wheels/tires, clearcoat the back or just Collinite?

Just got a new set of wheels for my car. Since I dont have to put them on right away, I was thinking of clearcoating the backs (not sure if they are already clearcoated from the factory, but figured more couldnt hurt)

Is it worth the effort? Ive read they almost need to be "baked" for a while before the clearcoat will really provide any protection.

Would I be better off with 2 or more coats of Collinite Insulator Wax?

I only though about clearcoat in case I cant completely clean the wheels again before the Collinite wears off.

Thanks in advance.

I've toyed with the idea of using something like ZoopSeal on wheel backs, but I've never gotten around to it (one more product just sitting on the shelf :o ).

If they were mine (and I weren't doing the Zoop), I'd layer on 6-8 layers of KSG. That works very well for me, keeps things protected long/well enough that an annual redo is usually sufficient and easy enough to do.

Collinite is always lucky to make it through a winter for me, let alone longer. It's OK, but it's not layered KSG.

collinite on them twice

wash them EVERY single time you wash the car

take them off every 6 months and give a thorough cleaning

rewax every month or so (wax will break down faster due to higher heat, or so I hear)

post a pic of the wheels. what type of surface is the inner barrel? did u buy nice forged 3pc? or is it just a cast monobloc? most 3pc inners arent coated, and most cast wheels have either painted or powdercoated inners. depends on brand.

They are Enkei J10s. Large pic here: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/product/wheels/enkj10.sm.xl.jpg

Not forged (Im not made of $$$ yet :) )

I think the faces are powdercoated silver with a machined lip. The backs are either raw aluminum or clearcoated. I can feel tiny ridges in the backs, similar to my factory i35 wheels.

Any source for KSG locally? I have AIO but not KSG, I can order it online but was wondering if anyone has been able to find it at any auto stores (NAPA, etc)

How about UPP as a sealant? I happen to have some lying around.

I also have a few FinishKare products (2180, pink wax), but I use them as my summer products (i.e. when I can actually wash the car once/week)....they look better but dont last as long.

Would be nice to get them powdercoated but Ive inquired to the local places and most of them dont wanna talk unless its a pretty big job.
