*new Waterless Wash*

hair conditioner has is very slick and smooth, not abrasive, primarily made of water.......plus i really liked the waterless wash products, however the prices are super high any where from 25 and up(for a gallon), plus shipping and handling(in maryland they dont sell or stock waterless wash anywhere) in my poorboys waterless wash felt liked conditioned water.....so thought to my self why not mix the two and see what happens.....
plus for about a dollar i can make a gallon of waterless wash
if you choose to do what i did ......... i recommend sauve brand conditioner, the ingredients are simple and natural and its generally cheaper and mixes well with water
......so basically, i wanted to find a cheap waterless wash.....so i made this stuff

Hope the wagon hasn't left, I'm joining the band!

I'll pick up some suave conditioner tonight and use it tomorrow to clean up sling and dust from the rotory.

This is something I will be trying. It doesn't sound too far fetched. I will admit to trying a variety of products to see if they could be used. Very few have worked. Rubbing alcohol for sap remover worked better than all sap removers that I've tried. Failures include the above mentioned oil on tires (many many years ago), silcone sealant mixed with water for tire dressing, lemon juice to remove water spots (figured acid worked so why not a natural approach). Lemon juice didn't work very well and even if it did, refrigerating after opening would be a problem. I've read on here about mop n glo on fenderwalls but haven't tried that yet, peanut butter and a few other things that I haven't tried. Conditioner for waterless wash doesn't sound as crazy as a $20 fancy towel (MF) sounded almost 10 years ago when it was sold person to person and I bought one.

It will be interesting to see the opinions of the experimenters after your tests.
Since we hapened to have some Suave conditioner around the house, I put 15 oz. of water in a spray bottle and added 1 oz. of Suave conditioner, shook well and tried it on a painted panel of the Montana. I then used Poorboy's S&W on the identical panel on the other side of the van. Both panels were only slightly dusty as the van had been washed Tuesday and had only road dust with no moisture to make things very dirty. I used the same MF, just turned to a clean 1/4 when I switched products.
Since the dirt was very minor, about the only things I was able to determine were:
1. The conditioner smelled better which is of absolutely no concern to me, but is to some.
2. Both products removed the dust quite easily.
3. It did not appear that either product left any marring.
4. The finish looked good and I don't think you would be able to tell which product was used on which panel.
5. The difference, and I felt it was a significant difference, was the feel when using the two products. The S&W felt much slicker when applying and felt much slicker when making the final drying pass.

The conditioner and water mix may be OK, but based just on the feel, I think I'll still be using S&W.
15:1 was the recommended ratio and that is what I used.
I realize that varying the ratio might make a difference, but I really don't care to be a chemist.
If you experimenters do come up with what a number of people do think works, I'm sure not above copying and using your formula.:D

And there's my problem. I used Suave Seasonals Limited Edition, Holly Berry with aloe vera & vitamin E.
I needed the sea algae extract.:D
Hey, it's not a bad idea and maybe it will work for everyone else. No more hair than I have left, I don't think I will be buying any more conditioner to try out. If it didn't clean the car, my wife would make me use it on my hair. I don't think so.:)

Hey I use EX-P as tooth paste so he might be on to something!

What about a Mega Plush Microfiber as a wash cloth and a nice Soft & Absorbant Waffle Weave Drying Towel to dry yourself after a shower?

Ok I ran out to the Dollar General store by the house (they are closet place). Figured they would certainly have Suave. They had plenty and I grabbed the Suave Naturals Conditioner Ocean Breeze with sea algae extract & vitamin E. 22.5 fl oz bottle "FAMILY SIZE". Is that same Blackwrx? I mixed up a bottle real quick 15 parts water and 1 part Suave. Grabbed a few MF and walked out to test it on one of my truck (2000 Ranger). It was getting dark and the rain was close, my intentions were to do one panel (started to sprinkle midway). I sprayed a section and liked how it felt and worked so I did another section. I was impressed so I did another panel, and another panel and .... Well I did the whole truck. The truck is kept clean; it was washed last Sunday morning and gets driven very little (maybe 2 trips for 10-15 miles total since washing). I wanted to try it on my other cars but the rain and darkness moved in. Due to the time of day and weather, I was not able to inspect it as much as I wanted. I doubt seriously though that I will have any complaints. It looked great and the slickness during application was such that I felt confident using it. Barring any problems, I would definately use this. I will test it out more but it could definately shave $50-100 out of my monthly costs. I also could use as much as I wanted without any concern for the cost. I figure with tax 56 cents a gallon. I probably can beat the price at a Dollar Tree or Walmart. On those hot days I can wash my little bit of hair and condition it too now.

Haha. Good way to make your women happy. Light some candles, turn on some soft music, and draw up a nice SS&S bubble bath. It's gotta be cheaper than that expensive crap that they want to buy from those fancy stores. Steve could draw in a completely different market be relabeling a few of his products as bathing supplies.

Well, I was too intrigued not to try, so I bought some Suave Naturals conditioner & a new spray bottle...

Mixed the "recommended" 15:1 solution...

Compared it to Poorboy's S&W....

And cautiously used it on my vehicle (which needed to be washed anyway. It also needs a good polish. :) )....

That's the Suave solution on the left, Poorboy's S&W on the right.

I was not impressed. The 15:1 solution looked nothing like the S&W, sprayed nothing like the S&W, and worked nothing like the S&W. Not that I am all that surprised, and in all reality, I got the results I expected to get. The 15:1 solution just does not cut it . I might could play around and get a solution that's more in line with a waterless wash, but the 15:1 ain't it. There's so many variables that could be off - did I use the right conditioner, should I use distilled water, etc., etc. - that it would be hard to ever get a good mix consistently. I was curious and didn't want to write it off until I tried it, so I gave it a try. I have written it off. It might work for someone, but that someone is not me. I think I'll be sticking with the benchmark - Poorboy's S&W.

Jared:
Your observations pretty much match mine.
1. I bought some Ocean Breeze Conditioner to try to duplicate BLACKWRX's results.
2. At the 15:1 ratio, it really isn't even close to the color/appearance of my S&W. I even tried adding an additional ounce and it is still somewhat lighter in color and appears more transparent.
3. The Suave/water mixture will foam/suds when shaken vigorously, the S&W doesn't.
4. Again, I tried it on the van that was much dirtier than my previous use. Still not really dirty. It seemed to work OK with no visible marring, but I still have reservations.
5. I don't personally think it is at all comparable to S&W as far as appearance, consistency or slickness. It may have some possibilities for use as a "waterless wash", but probably not for me. Like Jared, I have no interest in being a chemist and even if I were to match the appearance, that certainly doesn't mean it would match the performance.
6. It took me at least 6 months to get comfortable with S&W so I'm not too keen on experimenting with an unknown product.

.......sorry to hear about your results, you might want to try less water or add more condtioner......if you play around with the mixture you will get it......if you dont want to play around with the mixture.......then you might just want to spend 30 bucks a gallon for poorboys......

......from that spray picture you posted.......you need to add way more condtioner try 10:1
iam glad you posted that spray picture....
i will posted a pic of how the solution should look
the suave formula i made is definately thicker than the poorboys

Hey, glad it works for you and maybe some others. Maybe I'm just having a problem with a conditioner cleaning my car. The conditioner is made to condition not clean, isn't it? Even a shampoo would seem more likely to do some cleaning, but I'm still not sure it would be the right product for automotive paint.
Anyway, right now the $30 for Poorboys Spray & Wipe looks like a good idea.
Since the conditioner cost the great sum of $1.50, it was worth that for the experiment. Heck, I even used some of it on my hair this morning. Loved that sea algae.:D

left suave.........right poorboys
suave solution is thicker......which reduces friction when wiping causing less swirls and marring than poorboys, hope this helps
happy testing:D

I do plan to test this out more but so far I can't find a problem with it. I've intentionally tried to find the "don't do this with this" and haven't. I've sprayed it on every surface of my wifes Nissan and haven't encounter a problem. I will use it on her car exclusively for awhile to see if there are any build up problems. I doubt there will as it seems to wipe away extremely well. I used one of the MF that I cleaned her wheels and car with and used it with the to clean all her windows. I did use a clean MF for drying the glass. Didn't notice any hazing, smears or residue. I actually think it did a better job than my normal glass cleaners. I also will be testing it side by side with my other products such as spray and wipe.
