*new Waterless Wash*

i would show you pictures, but you cant tell the difference between the stuff i made and the poorboys

Well, I'd really like to decide that for myself. What's the big deal about not posting pictures? Just show the two in a side by side comparison. Before and after pictures of a panel you used both on would be a start. If you're not gonna pony up the proof, then you shouldn't have started the thread.

here is a article on how conditioner works...BlackWRX may be on to something...

some of the ingredients for conditioner

Dimethicone

Dimethicone belongs to a class of synthetic materials known as silicones. Dimethicone is a linear polymer of methylated siloxanes. Silicone materials related to dimethicone include siloxane polymers of dimethicone and methicone. Silicone compounds are not absorbed through the skin.

Dimethicone is used widely in Beauty Care Products for its superior spreadability and is an excellent emollient.

Dimethicone and related siloxane polymers have been used in cosmetic formulations at concentrations of use up to 15%. The CIR Expert Panel has concluded that dimethicone and related polymers are "safe as used in cosmetic formulations".

We use the stuff not made for detailing to work miracles for us

Peanutbutter to remove wax stains

Woolite to wash leather

Toothpaste to remove Glass stains

Vinegar for water spots and to soften towels

the list goes on for home made helpers...

I give him credit for trying

I would try one of the more botanical conditioners ..you may come up with one like the Zymol one..it is botanical...use a quality one you may get better results...

Interesting thread....keep up the work

There is also alcohol in the conditioners I have in the house. Not sure how strong they would be in this solution but alcohol will stip your LSP. Since there is no validity of how harmful it may be to the paint, it's all PB S&W that I'll be using. Pictures would be helpful.

I was thinking if these two products are exactly the same, if my family was to run out of conditioner, I could just let them use Spray & Wipe on their hair instead?

theres only one way to find out. :D
but dont worry you will have no marring to your hair and the fresh coat of wax will not be removed.
sry guys i had to

Dang, my daughter almost agreed to being a guiney pig for our experiment. If she had not recently highlighted her hair she would have agreed to S&W after shampoo'ng tonight. Dern it.

She did say that as soon as we invent something guaranteed to be mild enough for her highlights she'd be right there for us.

I think I'll mix up a little conditioner portion and give it a try this weekend.

the pics are bad and its hard to notice the difference
this is my old better honda accord hasnt been waxed in over a year
left to right
water spots......my conditioner water formula.........poorboys
i will try to post pics of my black subaru in better shape....comparing both products

You're right about the stuff in the bottle looking similar to S&W. It looks like the conditioner and water performed okay. No marring to speak of? Just out of curiosity I might give that a try - not on my vehicles of course. :D You say 15:1 (water:conditioner), right? Does it matter what conditioner? Tap water or distilled?

And thanks for the pics. :)

Your right but this is something i wouldn't do when there are other options readily available.

He also told be this while i was removing the sling from his door panels that
was caused by the trans fluid.

I guess it depends on the poster. That's why I put the components in parenthesis next to the ratio. The first number correlates to the first component in parenthesis.

15:1 water:conditioner......if its to messy or something at that ratio just add more water.....the dilution may very with the brand condtioner
i used "suave" brand conditioner its cheap, mostly water, and not too many overally foreign ingredients

Yeah, I was thinking about popping over to the Wal-Mart parking lot one night this weekend and trying the formula out on some grungy auto. hehehe. That way if it doesn't work, oh well, no one would know any different.

i did see that.i'm looking at the overall dilution ratio on the side of the spray bottle. i should have been more specific.

Exactly, you never know chemistry is strange. This is exactly why I stay away from home made remedies. You never know what they'll do. I don't use peanut butter or toothpaste or any other home made remedy on my car. I'd rather pay a little extra and buy a product from a company that employs people who know chemistry and is liable for the performance of their product.

I really don't understand why everyone is always trying to make up their own detailing products. Homemade QD or oil on tires will save you what $10-$20 a year if you're an enthusiast?

I'm impressed, at least from what I can see. No marring appears visible. Just curious, but what in the world prompted you to mix up conditioner & water to use as a waterless wash???
