New type of grit guard from cg. thoughts?

Just seen this on my fb feed. Not sure what to think. My first reaction was the holes maybe might be too small to really collect dirt. I guess it filters it too. Haven't fully looked into it.

Engineers are much smarter than I am. That said, there must be something I'm not thinking about in this design. Not sure I quite get this product as a "Grit Guard".

No personal experience but I assume it is to prevent the dirt from getting sucked back up when the mitt is dunked, causing negative pressure and forcing the sentiments from the bottom back up.

Now, I'm sure the makers of the original would offer that the fins prevent this from happening but who really knows. I know that I have always refrained from purchasing the grit guard because it didn't alleviate my concerns. Rather, I just rinse the mitt from the hose with a strong stream of water after every section. This method, while it takes longer, has yet to fail me. I have soft, black paint so I would know!

:idea

Can't believe I've never thought of that. It's so simple it might just work. I like the idea of the original grit guard. I never thought I was sloshing too much dirt up before I had one but added them just as another layer of safety. Guess I'm going to do this as well now.

I'm just concerned with this new style that most of the dirt will sit on top and not actually go underneath. They have a YouTube video of it now. They even supposedly sell replacement filters. That is their niche. They came out with a grit guard that they can continue to upsell. The one plus side is it fits multiple bucket sizes.

I use a double stack of Grit Guards. I feel that compensates for the negative pressure pulling the dirt. I would be afraid that too much dirt would sit on top of the guard pictured above.

I think that it would probably work too. I think that it looks like a good design. I might change my mind after using it, but it looks good.

I made a post elsewhere but it looks like a grit guard that prevent stuff getting to the bottom. It may trap at bottom but not enough holes to allow dirt to fall down into the lower bottom.

lets be clear here...i'm sure CG didn't come up with this (let alone engineer it)...just like they didn't didn't come up with their pads, their brushes, etc.

I'm sure they play a role in their chemical composition, but thats about it. this looks like a MaxShine product with a CG package around it.

shameful to even compare it to a Grit Guard...

Seems like the dirt that doesn't fall through the holes will just sit on top of it? And I guess whatever dirt goes in is trapped??? I'm not getting this

PAC used to sell the identical product, which had a sponge under it and a grate that went on the side of the bucket, I believe it was called DritGuard Auto Wash System. For all of the parts, I felt the simple Grit-Guard worked the best.

When I hear of a new product from cg, the word rebranded comes to mind... A lot.

Still, their soaps are awesome.

Yes we did.

I think it looks hilariously useless..I will bet at least 70% of the dirt doesnt go through those tiny holes and just keeps getting sloshed back up into your wash sponge. Get some aquarium Filter pads in the bulk size and stick it under a grit guard and I bet that is 100000x more effective then this terrible looking idea.

i agree as i also have this original grit guard but feel the new grit guard works better. may have to consider the two grit guard trick though.
