How do carnauba-containing shoe polishes work so well on footwear? I have *decades*-old dress shoes that've never been treated with anything except that and they're still in great shape (the makers don't even refinish them when I send them in for rebuilding, saying "there's no way anyone could improve on their cosmetic condition, good job, keep doing whatever you're doing!").
NOT intended as an :argue I'm genuinely curious. I basically *NEVER* have to replace dress shoes or workboots (or other leather goods for that matter, some of which have been used *HARD*, but I assume those are very different from automotive leather) and my regimens for them are serious :nono when it comes to how one should treat automotive leather. I mean...I've sorta come to the assumption that quality leather goods last forever with pretty minimal treatment, given so much of my leather stuff dates to the '80s or earlier.
