New to the PC game.. Need Some Advice..

This is my polish/wax set-up as of now..

- Meg #7 Show Car Glaze *applied by hand with meg applicator.. Buffed out with micro fiber towel.. One Section at Time

- Wax with Meg Gold Class.. *applied by hand with meg applicator... buffed with micro fiber towel.. Applied to whole car and then buffed out after 10 minutes..



Ok, I just purchased a PC 7336 at Lowes.. For those interested it was $130 with tax..



My question is how to I go by applying the polish and wax with it? What exact pads do I need to apply and buff out the polish/wax's? I will be watching videos and reading about the PC. Any suggestions and tips would be appreciated. I have a 2006 Nissan altima se-r. If anyone has experience with nissan paint please provide some info.



What pads should I buy? Sonus FX-3 Pad Kit... Also I have 2 scratches on my rear bumper from someone bumping into me while parked. I would need pads for that too.



From the info on the site Klasse All in one and Glaze seem to be one of the best products out there.. Going with that next once my meguiar products finish.

Welcome to the obsession Adam. First you need to do a lot of reading as there are hundreds of posts on this topic. Use the search to find how to use the PC. Also go to the learn section from the home page, lots of info there as well. After you have done your research and you still have questions, ask away.

your mirror glaze line will work fine, you will just need to step up to a heavier polish to remove pesky defects, other than that your show car glaze is certainly pc compatible . . . just ask any of the MG Fans.



probably wouldent hurt to give the edge pads a lookover, twice the pad for the money, no velcro backing plate and perfectly centered every time. a lot of guys here use them. . .



Optimum Polishes and Edge pads are very user friendly and great for those just jumping on the PC bandwagon.



You will find many of the Mirror Glaze polishes and compounmds to be very oily - search some threads for proper pad application and working time of the product with the PC. . .I dont use them myself so this ends my advice on your polishes.



Klasse AIO and KSG are good. They have been dissed a bit since the were reformulated to meet VOC guidelines :angry



Try searching threds forMenzurna "Jacket" sealants or Jeff's Werkstatt Products. They make some products extreamly similar to AIO/KSG, but many claim they are a notch or too better . . . I have the new versions of AIO and KSG - they work well for me, and I have been happy with the results. . .

I've tried looking at other websites but they don't seem to carry much kits like autogeek...



Is spending $100 on the Edge system actually worth it.. Aren't the 6inch yellow, orange, and green pads worthless? I've researched the forums and many use the 4inch pads for "cutting"...



What is my best bet? I have an unopened 7336 waiting to be used...

Any other suggestions and advice would be appriciated... Other websites?

Again, this is for a 2006 nissan..

IMO you won't go wrong with any of the pad choices, they're all good and the PC isn't as pad-sensitive as the rotary can be. I'm not familiar with the Edge choices, but I have noticed that there are a *lot* of barely-different pads these days. You really only need light cutting pads, polishing pads, and finishing pads (IMO).



I do think the 4" pads are necessary for real correction but I don't know how often you'll need to do that. Handy to have when you *do* need 'em though.



I'd also check out TOL and CMA , as well as the sponsors here ;)



To get anything special out of the PC (as opposed to what you can already do, if not as easily, now by hand), you'll need an abrasive polish. There are a zillion choices but I'd sure look into Optimum and the offerings from 1Z (maybe PAKSHAK has them, I forget). And I dunno if I'd be so inclined to switch from a wax-based approach to Klasse. I use the Klasse twins on one of our vehicles, but I honestly don't think it's the right solution for everybody. I probably recommend Collinite waxes more than anything else. Optimum or 1z polish, topped with a good wax, will look great, be forgiving of any remaining flaws (especially the 1Z), and will last a long, long time. Sorta similar to what you're doing now too, which can be a good way to progress to a more serious level of detailing.

I bought the video awhile back and, although I've been using a PC since the mid-90's, I found it full of useful info and tips that I will use to hone my technique. It deals with using both polishes and glazes (slightly different techniques). Mike Phillips (the presenter) is a little long winded and repetitive sometimes so the video could be a bit more concise, but overall I'd recommend it highly.
 
Yeah, I've taken a look at everything.. Right now I'm trying to decide on whether or not to go with the Edge 2k system.. Seems to me that a few people are having problems with it.. They do have quality service so I might give them a try.. Someone stated that they came out with a new adapter? Does anyone know if Autogeek carries this new upgraded adapter?
