Hello everyone! I'm new to polishing and friends have recommended I use the orbital polisher first :waxing:. I was wondering what would you recommend for a beginner, a dual action and what brands are reliable? Does Makita make a good orbital and what model is it? Best pads?? Thanks in advance guys!

PC7424 is my first machine. Everyone now tells you to start with the Flex DA though. I just don't see how it can fit into every spot thats all. Even my friend has trouble sometimes with it...

yeah, I need to go under my door handles on my E36 BMW M3. It looks pretty tight under there. I need a great polisher I can learn on and a polisher that is fool proof :buffing: for a newbe like me.

Get a pc with 5.5" pads.

Yes, but you will need different size backing plates. Stay with the 5.5" pads. Any bigger and they will not correct very well. You may want some 4" pads for heavy correction.

Get some m105 to use by hand for under the door handles.

Like others have said, get the flex if money is not an issue or you want to make an investment in this

If your not so serious and are only plan on polishing out swirls on your car or others every once and a while than go with the porter cable. You can get a complete set of pads and polishes with the pc for the same price as the flex alone

Interesting! I learned something today.

Where is the best place to buy orbital polishers?

Money is no issue here. I want the best and want it to it to be a great investment. Where can I buy the best pads and what brands are they?

I am serious about polishing and can't wait to start.

If money is no issue than definitely get the flex. I went with the pc and wish I would have just saved a little more for the flex. I too couldnt wait though which is why I have the pc

Most people are using pads by Lake Country.

If you havent already check out autogeek.net . Theyre one of our forum sponsors. They are almost like a one stop shop for detailing. Get the flex, pads, polishes, mfs and everything else you need for a great price.

Flex XC 3401 VRG work very well , perfect for a beginner

Yeah, the Flex 3401 with Meguiar's M105 works very well on my e36 M3. Very hard clear. The PC does OK with the M105/4" yellow pads it's but nothing like the Flex (which works practically as well as my rotaries).

BlueAngel- Don't underestimate the job-of-work that correcting a BMW of that vintage can be ;) The M105 *will* work by hand in the tight spots, but it'll take a while.
