New to PC & have questions

I am pretty set on getting the PC 7336SP from Lowes and have a pretty good idea on the pads and product I want to try out. Some of the menzerna IP and FPII and some LC pads. I was on a site and saw an interesting item and wanted to know if anyone has ever tried it.

It was a pad for the PC that you can put clay into after you flatten it into a circle and then clay your car using the PC. Has anyone used this or thought about it? Seems like it would save a bunch of time!

Thoughts?

I did a search on clay pad, and clay application and couldn't easily find anything on it. But if the general thought on here is that it isn't good then it probably isn't.

I got one for testing and found a few problems with it:

1. Even though you are using it by machine, and the machine is doing the work, it does not do as thorough a job. It does not get into small, tight areas very well, which means you're still going to need to do hand work. So, does that mean you stop and pull the clay out of the pad or open a second bar?

2. The clay fell out of mine twice.

3. Picking the machine up and putting it down multiple times to spray on and wipe off lubricant is a PITA. Are you really saving time? I don't think so!

4. DANGER! All it takes is one grain of grit in the clay to do some heavy marring.

Great idea, but in practice hand claying is faster, easier and safer.

Excellent reply!!! Thanks for the heads up. I didn't even think about having to lift the machine up constantly to spray down the lube.

What do you think of non machine based clay solutions. I found one that basically you flatten the clay into a disc and then there is a handle you can hold onto. My problem is when I clay by hand after awhile my hand cramps up from trying to hold onto the clay, and I drop it occasionally (then have to throw it out) since it gets slippery. I was thinking a device with a handle to hold onto would be a good solution, atleast for the large panels and then remove it to do door handles, mirrors, etc.
