New to detailing. Need some advice to start off

Hey guys, I have been researching for many hours but still feel the need to ask some questions.

My car is jet black, and I plan to keep it swirl-free and minimize the scratches from marring when washing the car.

I want to know what are the best processes to wash the car.

I need to be pointed in the right direction of what products i should start off with.

So far I have read that a foam gun is good and safe for black cars.

Is leaf blowing the car really better than using a california waterblade or wiping with a waffle weave towel?

Thanks for the help guys.

I have many more questions I'd like to ask also.

Washing on a weekly basis should involve

Wheel and tyres - try P21's

Wash - heaps to choose from, P21, poorboys, meguiars NXT and gold class, zaino

Dry - WW is my preference

Windows - stoners seems to be the favourite for cleaning windows

If you're looking to remove swirls, you'll need to grab yourself a machine and some pads, don't bother trying by hand. Make sure you clay bar your car as well. A good place to start would be Poorboys SSR2.5 and SSR1.0. Follow that up with a polish and sealant/wax.

Hope this helps.

Check out the "learn!" link at the top of the page. There is quite a bit of good info that should point you in the right direction.

I just had my car resprayed jet black. How long should I wait to do a detail job to the new paint? ie. sealant, polish, wax.

I know i am new here but now I got confused.... polishing and removing swirl marks with SSR2.5 1.0 isn't it the same thing? we polish to remove imperfections and seal then? :getdown
