Hey guys. I have always had light colored cars this is my first black car I have a c300 amg What a job. I think I need a rotary buffer b/c the d/a did not take the light swirls out that we're in the paint. I'm using a merzerna product. But this site is awesome with all the info u can spend hours. And hours. Thanks again guys. Jay

Welcome, what pad and with what compound are you using. da can take out most swirls its just a little slower in the go but much safer.that is very hard paint, i would use foamed wool and compound for src paint.

welcome to AF Jay. yeah man, this place is a wealth of info. i hope you're retired, because that black paint will be a full time job :D

So with the paint on my car having very light swirls and it being black. Mercedes. What merzerna product should I use not sure how to read that chart. Thanks again guys.in the garage u can't really see it but outside in day time u can see it for the normal person they would think it is great but I'm a freak. And always wanted that glass like effect. Jay

start with the least aggressive pad and polish then you work from there. it not exact what combo will work for you. you have to try different combos till you hit on the right one. other than you bringing your car me or another detailer i wouldn't know which one until i had tried several that is detailing.it not always fun but once you find what works and you achieve that shine and correction. well it gets you hooked then when your car is great you want to do your wife's car then the neighbors car ,you'll even want to correct the in-laws car.but on a benz and black i would try orange pad and the polish you have autopia has a 6 pack of pads lake country and ether menzerna power finish bundle ,the into kit or the power gloss get those you will use them on that black car of yours and you will find what your car takes to make it shine.go in the detailing 101 read up .there are lots of great people here and with that there is a wealth of knowledge

Welcome to AutopiaForums!

DA Polishers, with the right technique and right pad are very capable machines.

Make sure your technique is correct first- Medium pressure, slow arm speed, small working sections, over lapping passes, speed 6....

PO85RD (SF4500) is a VERY mild polish. Your Mercedes has hard clear coat so you will likely need a more aggressive polish (and might need a more aggressive pad).

I would start with something like SI1500 (PO83) with a 5.5 inch Lake Country Orange pad. Meguiar's pads are usually 7 inches which is a little too big to get the maximum performance from your DA.

After polishing out the swirl marks with the above combo, switch to a 85rd (SF4500) and a 5.5 inch white pad to burnish the paint to a super high shine.

WELCOME!
:welcome:

Which DA do you have?

Like Todd stated...

I might suggest (To remove swirls)
Meguiars DA Microfiber Cutting Discs, 5 inches with a
Meguiars Mirror Glaze DA Polisher 5 inch Backing Plate and
Meguiars DA Microfiber Correction Compound (D300)

Followed by (to increase gloss)
A Hi-Gloss CCS White 5.5 Inch Polishing Pad and
Meguiars Mirror Glaze #205 Ultra Finishing Polish

Then last (To increase shine) use your
PO85RD with a Hi-Gloss CCS 5.5 Inch Black or Red Pad

NOTE: While you at it pick up a couple of
Hi-Gloss CCS Orange 5.5 Inch Power Pads
With Black you will need them in the future.

I have a flex 3401 I think. Golden where do u detail out of. Thanks jay. Where is the best place to buy merzerna products. And pads. Thanks again guys jay
