New shop!

Ok I just started to rent a shop out here in FL. It's a small spot but I hope it will make me enough to open what I really want! Anyways here are some questions I wanna ask.

1. There is only well water :(. It stinks!

2. I am gonna be indoors and some outdoors (under heavy shade) so still some what dark. What is some good lighting to get both for indoors and hard to see out doors.

When we are either indoors or outdoors it is very hard to see dirt and grim in/on the panels.

3. Hummm IDK.

Thanks for all the help guys!

Not sure about the well water issue but I thought I remember hearing that a filtration system can take care of the smell. Think it was a charcoal filter will help. Try googling it or if you know a plumber ask them.

For lighting it all depends what you are looking to spend. Not sure what the latest and greatest everyone else is using but I use just the standard 4' florescent lights. Plus the use of a dual halogen lamp on a stand for the side I am working on.

I believe there is a calculation you can do to figure out how many you need for the space.

For outside, how about one of these? :chuckle:

Haha yeah those lights will do! hehe.

On the outside of the shop I have a few Florescent lights that are out. I been meaning to change em but never remember when I have the time.

Yeah I seen someone who uses a system on there truck just to do lot washes. I am sure it will do the trick but I'm not sure about the fact of how many gallons it will filter b4 having to refresh the coal (or whatever it uses) could be major bucks.

DI won't last long with well water, much less with foul smelling well water. It will cost you a fortune to have true DI water on tap. Ask me how I know.

Oh my. Well, I live in california and run off the city water. The water is harder than diamonds. So I get DI water where I can.

Tap water is not a problem. It's that the sediments in well water will practically destroy a DI tank.

A water softener like the Spot Plus would work well. It has a charcoal pre-filter, and simply uses salt pellets to re-charge. As for the lighting, I just looked at a space with florescent lights. There were quite a few of them, but the lighting seemed just right. If you have a shop, why are you still going to work outdoors? Unless you are working in the dark, I see no need for outdoor lighting.

The inside of the shop the way it is setup right now it will only fit one car. On the front (outside) it's covered with a roof. Kinda hard to explain but I have soooooo much shade it makes it hard to clean the interior. I'll have to post pics tomorrow for you guys to see.

Well here are some of the pictures of the place. It's nothing pretty but it's mine and it will have to work till I can get a bigger place!

Here is the inside section. Mainly to store and polish. I still have to empty it out.

Happy for ya big dog.

I'd suggest pressure washing that floor and laying down some paint on it. That would improve the overall image. ;)

For sure . . . . . some black paint. I tell you what man . . . . . that spot is cool and it has so much potential. You have something that a lot of us want but just don't have (including myself)

a little clean up, some paint on the floors, maybe see if you can find a couple of cool banners that are in relation to detail stuff and you would be surprised as to how much that would improve the image.

That's a nice spot and has a lot of room to work in. Keep us updated if possible.

If you don't mind me asking how is the rent there?
