Hey guys, I just picked up this new ride yesterday. Kawasaki 636.

Since this is my first new bike in about 9 years :) , I wanted to check out everyone opinions on what I should use. I have used everything from Meguiars, Klasse, Platinum, etc. on my other bikes. This bike will not see rain, as I have a BMW that does commuting and touring duty. It'll mainly be my sportriding and track bike.

In the next while, I plan to wash, clean the paint (AIO, or SMR) and then seal it. Let me know what you think.

Edit: Oops, forgot to post the pic. :D

swing!!!!! :bounce Very nice.

Makes me want to get a bike again. I haven't had a bike in around 9 years.

I love the way SG looks on my wife's blue car. It really makes the blue look good. Keep the rubber side down. Have fun at the track.

If you haven't had a bike in 9 years, you're in for an eye opening. The bike I traded it in for was a '96 ZX7R that I bought new. This 636 is 100+ lbs lighter, has better brakes, almost the same torque, 14k redline, and makes almost the same HP (103 at the wheel).

I am leaning towards UPP myself, but make try SG first.

I know about the eye opening! My first bike was a Honda Shadow 600. Nice V twin. It was like the weebel wobble of bikes. That bike wanted to stay upright. My second bike was a 1990 (I think) Suzuki Katana 750. Those two bikes were like night and day. What a world of difference. I almost wrecked the Katana the first time I rode it. I can only imagine how different the bikes are today. I recently subscribed to Cycle World again. The bike bug has been biting me pretty hard lately.:D

The funny thing is, I’m not sure if I want to with a sport, cruiser or sport tourer. I used to think that I would never want a cruiser.

GREAT COLOR!!! And im sorry, but I just have to say this....pleeeeaaaaasssseee be careful riding that thing. EVERY SINGLE person I have known has gotten into an accident with a sports bike. With over 9 years of experience under your belt tho, I have no problem believing your are an extremely experienced rider and will be safe. I just hate seeing people get hurt, especially a fellow autoptian:D .

PS. 14K redline:shocked . I drove an S2000 with a 10K redline, but 14 is just plain nutty!

14,000 redline on a 600 cc motorcycle!!! I have a 1988 FZR400 with a 14,000 redline. Never thought they would make a 600 with a 14k redline. That pull from 12-14k must be amazing. It's beyond comprehension how the motor stays together at that rpm, and the noise coming out of the motor is just scary. I love it though.

people get in accidents on bikes all the time. i've had a few in the past year. it's just a matter of minimizing your risk by wearing the proper gear and riding defensively.

great looking bike. i rode a silver one of those at california superbike school last year. definitely a fantastic machine.

nobody every QUITS riding. they just take a break from it. haha.

I remember years back I was looking at a Honda Rebel as my first "new" bike. Wound up riding home on a new CBR1000 :D

I have always had full fairing sport bikes or full on touring bikes so there has always been lots of plastic to polish. I usually used Honda's spray polish on the bikes. I always cleaned them after every ride. I haven't had a bike in a while but, if I did since I cleaned them so often I would probably use a wax as you dry product since durability was not really a concern for me.

Guess I am on a break now :)

Thanks for the concern. :up

I know it well, as I taught riding for a short while. It really helps to have taken track courses to know the limits of what your bike can do. I have taken close to 10 of them now (lost count), so I am very comfortable on sportbikes.

The other headlight is a GS500E that my wife rides. I also have a BMW K75S which I tour on, not in the picture.

Forget insane on 600's. The new liter bikes have 13000 RPM redlines. That's insane!

Looks like everyone is voting for Klasse topped by #26. I'll be doing the full works this weekend (forecast is heavy rain). Will show some pix afterwards.

I completely agree. I have a sportbike that's 16 years old sitting in my garage that I haven't started in several years, but I can't seem to let it go. It will probably cost me more to restore it than to just buy another one, but I know if I sell it, I could never justify to myself buying another one. Plus, I have an attachment to that bike, it got me through school. So one day . . .

Those are ringers. Many people have had them on the dyno, and they are making 155 rwhp. Translates to 170 or so crank horsepower. Still not too shabby for a 400 lb bike which is shorter than my 6R! :D

I considered one for a while, but ultimately, the extra $ and the fact that I will be using this bike at track courses scared me away from getting one. I didn't want to get launched to the moon on a highside! :scared

well, the engine hp number was claimed with ram air. running on a dyno without 180mph of air blowing into the ram-air probably changes the numbers. who knows? it's too powerful for me. :p

How about 205mph on the GPS, and 225hp at the rear wheel? 03' Suzuki Hyabusa 1300 with big bore kit, custom cams, ported head, and everything else under the sun. Unfortunately, it isn't mine but belongs to one of my old riding buddies. This guy is sick when it comes to riding. There another guy with a Busa' that's making 450hp at the rear wheel on pump gas and 600hp on race fuel. It's obviously turbocharged, and he's going for the high speed record on the salt flats some time soon. Bikes, I can only say one thing. You have to respect them or you will be sorry. Have fun guys with your new toys!

Here's a pic of the guy I'm talking about at the local track on his GSXR1000, yes he has one of those too.
