New Reflections water beading.

About a month ago I clayed my P/U and put on the new Reflections and Top coat.

Today I had it outside and we had a rain storm.

I was really surprised by the beading of the rain water, looks like the new reflections is going to hold up really well.

Has there been any degradation of the beading since original application?

I don't really know, had not been out in the rain before and when I wash it I use QEW so can't tell when I wash it because you don't rinse it.

So the beading could be from the QEW and not from the FX.

If one uses QEW, durability can not be evaluated. Quite similiar to adding a quik wax(NXT, FX) or spray sealant (Z8, Sonus) and believing the original protectant is the reason for durability.:nono

Could be but been using QEW for 10 years and the water never beaded like this after a month before.

This really stood out when I first saw it.

I am not saying that the beading you see is not from the FX, what I am stating is the the beading is not from 1 month "old" FX. By placing another protective barrier over the FX, the primary protectant has not been exposed to a month long durability test. There has been intervals of non-exposure of FX because of the washing with QEW.

This is not a bad thing. Whatever it takes to maintain protection, be it QEW, NXT booster, Zaino Z8, or whatever is a good thing. :xyxthumbs

I used Reflections not F/X, have used the F/X and for me it did not bead as much as the reflections when I first put it on..

Your right and I also used Reflections and F/X instant detail that contain wax and both would prolong the beading ability, but it ended up a good combo.

At the same time I did my car I did my wifes car , half Reflections and half F/X, to compare, and did not use QEW or instant detail on hers.

Its raining here again today and when she gets home going to check and see how they both bead on hers.

kb,

How did you like the FX instant detailer. Sound interesting for a summer spruce-up tool. I looked for some today to play with. No luck at Advance and AutoZone. :(

I really like it.

It's like Showtime with protection.

I have also used Reflections Instant detailer, I felt like it left more protection but that could have just been in my mind, you let it haze over and wipe it off..

F/X is easier to use one step not two.

Where the F/X shines( no pun intended) is on the wheels, cleans the break dust and leaves some protection.

Also If you have a Pep Boys where you are they have it on Sale this week. $4.99 good price.

Thanks kb,

I will keep my eyes open for some when it arrives here in the East. Though I am a Zaino zealot ;), love the looks, endurance between waxing, and ease of application of Zaino, I love to try new things during the mild weather of Spring and Summer. Keeps things interesting and on top of advancements in car care product technologies. :wavey

QEW is just a wash without the need to rinse. I don't remember ever hearing about it leaving any sort of protection behind. In fact I'm pretty sure it doesn't.

Quick & Easy Wash is a non-abrasive, anti-static, water repellent wash that leaves a super clean, sparkling shine with no streaks, spots or soapy film.

These 2 features are accomplished by some form of protectant. Be it silicone oil, a liquid wax or polymer.

Well you put me to work.

I did my wifes car about a month ago, F/X on the hood and Reflections and Top Coat on the rest of the car.

I have washed it once, maybe twice with car soap, its been rained on a few times and is kept in the garage.

Today it did not rain so sprayed it with a fine spray on the hose to check the beading.

The hood with the F/X beaded well, does not show in the photo well because the beads ran off before I could get a shot.

The roof really beaded well with the Mothers Reflections, the better of the two for beading of water, but I think the reflections beaded better when first applied.

Actually think it held up almost as well as the day I applied it.

Happy with both but if I could only use one it would be reflections.

Don't really know what any of this means but thought it would be of intrest to you and the group.

QEW has carnauba wax in it.

Could not get the hood photo to download in my last post, sorry.

Looks like you have some reallly good protection.

Thanks for the up-date and visuals. One of the reasons why we hang out here is to exchange experiences and do product evaluations. Looks like Mother's has a winner. :xyxthumbs
