New Purchase

Just wanted to double check.

I just made a purchase from properautocare.com. I picked up Menzerna intensive polish, 2 CCS Orange pads, Menzerna Final Polish II and 2 CCS White pads along with a microfiber mitt and big blue towel.

My questions is, are these going to be the proper pads to use with these polishes? I have a '05 Nissan 350z that I let some dance chicks wash last summer and it never recovered. The swirl marks are absurd for such a new vehicle.

I'm also very intrested in doing quite a bit of detailing this summer, (mine and friends vehicles) and I wanted to make sure I'm going the right direction with regards to the swirl marks and the PC 7336.

I've been reading and searching a TON on this and other sites, and the pads are just something that has always been confusing to me. I bought the PC about 10 months ago and was too intimidated by all the choices of pads to really get started.

I'll start out with these pads and polishes, then work up an inventory. I'll be practicing on my 350z, my '98 Jeep Cherokee and our '76 Toyota Land Cruiser, so I should be able to get a little experience in a pretty short amount of time.

Thanks. Love the site and the HUGE amount of info.

You'll be fine.

You can use 1 white and 1 orange pad with each IP and FPII.

Orange and IP will give you the most cut,

then IP/white and FPII/orange should be pretty similar in their cutting ability

FPII/white will give you least cut power and, from my experience, finish down LSP ready...

which reminds me... did you buy an LSP, wax, sealant??

I'm sure someone will chime in as far as what's more abrasive, FPII/orange or IP/white, but no matter what you're going in the right direction... you just need an LSP and might need to get Power Glaze and a couple yellow pads, if you run into something "heavy"

Good luck

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I got a backing plate and was going to do some more searching for a good LSP. The search continues.

Thanks again.

What color is your Z? If it is a lighter color you may want to go with a sealant, and darker you may want to go with a carnauba.

Regardless, they will both look good on any color...

One of my favorite waxes is Meguiars #26, its a mix of carnauba and sealant, you kind of get the best of both worlds. And the great part is, its available OTC at your local auto parts store. Might have to go to a few before you find it, but its out there.

Your polishes and pad selection look pretty good. I really like the new ccs pads, they do a nice job.

Good luck and post up some pictures!

I'll be sure to post up pics. The Z is Daytona Blue. I've got NXT wax around here somewhere, and I was thinking about going with a sealant and a carnauba wax. If I put the effort into it, I REALLY want it to pop for at least a few days.

What would you recommend for a long-lasting sealant or wax? I've read that pretty much any of the polymers would last 60-90 days without problem. We get a ton of rain here in the northwest and the Z is my daily driver. What would you suggest? I've also considered going with Zaino. I've never tried it, and hear great things.

Uhhh, i cant talk to much about Zaino, JoshTPA will be rolling over laughing! I became a convert today, (along with a ton of other products!)

I tried Zaino Z2pro for the first time today and man did I like it! It was really easy to apply, easy to buff off, and smelled great. Left a very slick surface and awesome shine.

you also might want to look at Jeff Werkstatt products. I tried those out today as well and they are VERY user friendly.

There is also Menzerna FMJ, thats a great product as well. Buffs off SOOO easily, great durability from what ive heard as well. We will see, 1/2 my car is protected with it right now.

NXT wax does not last very long at all, if you want durability i would not use that. It looks great especially on a color like yours, but the durability is not there.

What i would recommend is trying out a few different things like i did today on my truck. Order some zaino if your interested, order some JW products, or whatever you would like to try.

Do a few different panels with different products and see which one is to your liking. Once you stick around here long enough, you will be experimenting a lot with different products anyways.

A sealant topped with a carnauba would most definitely look nice!

Just make sure your prep is good or else no LSP will give your paint its true potential.

Hope that helps a little.

Thanks a lot, man. I was also thinking about going with the Blackfire, but damn it's expensive. I'll probably just go with the Menzerna since I've already got the other Menzerna products coming. I'll drop some bigger cash next payday to start experimenting.

Thanks a lot for the help, bro.
