New Pro Detailer Directory -- Thank You 3D!

I just got off a quick call with Tunch, the owner of 3D International. He was on his way to the airport and happened to read http://www.autopia.org/forum/profes...n/125435-i-d-like-make-over-your-website.html. Anyway, Tunch wanted to know why Autopia.org does not have a pro detailer directory for the pros to list their websites and business, so I explained the time, money, priority issues that have stopped me from completing this project (that I have started a few time before).

All I can say is... 3D stepped up and agreed to fund and sponsor the effort! To light a fire under my backside, Tunch offered to throw in a bonus if I got the job done before the end of the Thanksgiving weekend. Can't beat that.

Sounds promising! I would like to think that with the amount of traffic this website sees that it would be very beneficial to the pros here. Good luck David.

Be sure to word your listing in the directly to include the city you primarily service ("Detroit auto detailing"). This will help your search engine rankings in that city.

+1. Many of the pros here on autopia.org cater to the auto enthusiast that isn't just looking for something convienent, but rather a good talented and well-recommended detailer. There's no doubt this isn't going to be the main source of gaining clients, but rather a good way to find some potentially good detailers in the area for a potential client.

G/L getting this going Dave!

Luck is not a factor... a kick in the butt was.

Here is the home for the new directory:

http://www.autopia.org/find-professional-detailer/

I will be creating a "Find a Detailer" widget for the home page that randomly rotates detailer profiles.

The Find-A-Detailer Directory is now open for business!

This is just the beginning... I'm open to input for changes.

Thanks again to 3D for funding the software (and me!) to make this resource possible.

:woot:

Thanks for getting this back on the project list, David!

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help/test/assist to get this directory up and running smoothly.

 I get asked all the time by members on offtopic.com for detailers in their area. I can add the link to the pro detailer list I have stickied in the detailing forum there.

Believe me, this is a site a pro would want his/her name on:

Active Members in the last 30 days: 90,346 <---- this is a huge board!

Scott, that would be fantastic. OT is a great community resource. Thank you!

I tried to add myself to the North East section and it kept telling me that my url was invalid..hmmm??

The system checks to see that the URL is valid. Make sure you enter a fully qualified URL, beginning with http://

David has posted instructions here: http://www.autopia.org/forum/profes...iscussion/125479-find-detailer-directory.html

I'm sure he is adding each listing personally as they come in, so you'll probably just have to be patient to get your listing added. If this is anything like the first time the directory was attempted, I'm sure David has a lot to handle.

I am approving each ad by hand. I won't do this for long, but need to do it until I get a spammer control in place.

I am thinking about giving pros a special membership group that will allow you special privileges.
