NEW Poorboy Carnauba QD+ : Preview

NattyBumppo,

I like the idea of using smaller spray bottles to store in the car!! I actually carry s&w in the trunk with a mf (use to carry my qd, but like s&w :bow ). This way I can leave it in the glove compartment (easier access:o , and imo less tendencies to vary as much in temperature).

I do not have a wally world (closest thing to is a WM I guess).

Steve sent me an e-mail today telling me I have my package sitting on my front porch. Quite cruel when you are at work and can not leave to try out a new product. ;) This was my response to Steve after I got home and used some of the Poorboy's QD+...

Thanks Steve,

I have already tried the QD+. Excellent product. Not quite a QD in my book but a great adjunct to a product like Spray and Wipe, Quick Shine, Duragloss, etc. The reason I state this is because I would only use QD+ on a perfectly clean finish. Excellent for the extra "POP" after a Spray & Wipe session or after a wash. QD+ came at a perfect time. I just re-prep my hood, trunk, rear fascia and bumper and had just finished a second coat of EX. I like this product as a gloss/protectant enhancer after a wash or "classic" QD'ing. So in this sense it is a QD. Easy on and extremely easy off. I have found that the most cost effective application means is by a sponge type applicator similiar to the one I use for EX. I found that spraying on a MF used quite a bit of product and required more effort to spread. With the small cell sponge two sprites on the sponge covered two panels with no problem.

I will try to test the SSR-1(SMR) ASAP.

Thanks for the surprise. :bounce

Another great product from Poorboy's. :bow

blkZ28Conv,

good tip. I really like the idea of the sponge (foam, I presume) as I do realise that the mf process does consume more QD+. Yet, I would still be buffing with a mf;) .

I actually clean the car with s&w (in between washes) before I apply QD+ too:up .

The way I have used QD+ with success is following the techniques outlined in a post by DavidB on 1-12-2003 using a bucket of water, a damp mf towel, a dry mf towel and a QD. My choice is QD+

This method takes him about 5 to 10 minutes every other day. Myself a little longer but I`m working at it.

Good point Sprongs,

I too use that method for car the Z28, which may sit in the garage for a week or so, to remove dust prior to using a carnuaba based QD or quick wax. Especially when the weather becomes warm. But since Spray & Wash it's hard not to use Poorboy's one-step - no mess- slick surface method .

ashsarna,

If you have an old terry applicator, remove the sponge from inside. It is a good 4" circle and much softer and easier to handle than the "yellow" foam pads. Please give this a test and report back.:xyxthumbs

blkZ28Conv,

I have some and am tried it. I have to say, it makes sense using the terry than the foam (I realised that I felt the paint was "safer" with the cotton terry compares to the foam sliding against it). The spread for me was a it better (no inner pad). I may actually use this terry method to apply s100/ps21 or souveran. Have you used this way for your toppers?

Sprongs,

thanks for reminding me of this. I agree with blkZ28Conv, though, since s&w, it has been easier to use this one step :o .

ashsarna or blkZ28Conv,

What are the steps you are using with Poorboys S&W? Have used three of his products are swear by them. If the S&W is easier might have to call Steve and give it a try.

Always willing to try something to make life more enjoyable and simpler.

Thanks.

Sprongs,

I only use S&W for light cleaning (dust only) after Cali dusting, fresh bug removal, splashed areas immediately after driving and Qd'ing. If the vehicle is dirty it gets washed. Of course now I will use prior to QD+ on a clean but not recently washed vehicle. That reminds me.. I must order some more soon. :)

ashsarna,

I love the small sponge pad that came with the P21S. I use the same pad for Souveran. I will have to give a terry homemade pad a try ( many 100% expensive white towels in my "not using now" cabinet. ;)

Sprongs,

I do the same thing as blkZ28Conv with s&w, and a bit more;) . I understand blkZ28Conv's concern with waterless wash (correct me if I am wrong, but you are still hesitant with Q&E wash?;) ). I have though replaced my CC duster by 50% minimum with the s&w as there is lubrication helping to move the mf. I do not put any pressure (actually very light) when using it, and in the sun it does not even streak!! It is a must for me before I use any QD.

blkZ28Conv,

took your advise some time back and use the same s100/ps21 sponge for souveran:up (good thing I got several jar of them).

Thanks guys for the update on S&W. Will have to give it a trial run shortly. Seems to be the step between Q&E and QD+.

Does anyone know if QD+ can be purchased in the gallon size at this time?

Hi guys...just stopped in to say hi...

Tommy....a few weeks before gallons are in of QD+

Ash..nice finally talking to you....your wife will be on your side soon:lol:

"E" thanks and have a nice weekend

Natty see ya soon:wavey

Everyone have a nice weekend too:D

Steve,

Thanks for the update on QD+. Will be contacting you by the end of the month to order a gallon along with a few other goodies.

Have a great weekend also. Hope alls well with the family.

Tom

Steve,

good talking with you to:o . Like Sprongs, you be hearing from me soon on those orders. Good weekend to all.

Adding my :up to the growing S&W admirers club. I use my S&W for those situations between QEW (still getting to know this product after almost a year and QD, although at blkz28Conv's suggestion I combined S&W with Mother's Showtime QD and love the results. Now I have 3 solutions of S&W 1) S&W + Showtime 2) S&W normal dilution (as shipped by Steve) and 3) S&W + distilled water. This product seems very versatile. I keep the S&W + Showtime in my trunk with two MFs for those quick touch ups and emergencies.

Using the DFTowel and the S&W

I have just this week received my Poorboy's "Care Package" which included the QD+ and am anxious give it a try along with the Pro Polish, EX, and Bold-N-Bright. Happy days! Thanks Steve:xyxthumbs

Kudos to blkz28Conv on the suggestion of stripping the terry cover from the foam applicator. I used that idea last weekend on my Daughter's Civic.

blkz28Conv :up Keep those ideas coming.

Steve :up Keep those products coming.

:o :o :o :o

The "REAL Mad Scientist must be in Steve's garage. ;)

Mr. Clean,

What is the ratio your using of S&W and Mothers Showtime QD? Would like to try this with the QD+ when I send Steve my next order.

Thanks

Sprongs,

I believe the mixture was 60/40 S&W/Showtime. No real reason for that ratio except that was the amount of Showtime I had left. I do like the lubricity of the S&W.

blkz28Conv,

I would hate to think what would happen if you and Steve ever got together:D Two mad scientists= Wild and Shiny Objects :shocked
