Has anyone else here checked out the Pontiac website lately and seen the G8? Looks pretty impressive to me, hopefully the price is right so it doesn't bomb like the GTO did. More info is available on the Pontiac website...here is a pic

love it!

Oh man, I'm excited. Why? Because they're finally bringing the gorgeous and well-powered Holdens over here. It's about time we start enjoying what the Australians have for years - I just wish Holden came over here themselves instead of allowing Pontiac to badge their cars. Oh well, just a debadge on the GTO or G8 and they look great again.

I love it even more because manual is finally an option again. Too long have manufacturers catered to our lazy culture with its obsession with autos. A high powered engine like the 6.0 L V8 in the G8 deserves a proper transmission, paired with a proper RWD drivetrain.

I like it, but wouldn't buy one myself since I'm just not looking for a heavy (near 4000 pounds) sedan at this time. Maybe in the future, though!

Yea, wonder how much it wold cost to bring in a holden front clip and hood? It looks much much better than the Pontiac!

I think this is a big step forward for Pontiac and GM as a whole. The hood scoops might be a little too much for my tastes, but overall its a sharp looking vehicle.

+1 yea I have been following this on gminsidenews and cheersandgears.com.

to start at 25,000 for base V8 to start at 28,000 not too bad get alot of car their.

wiil be my next vehicle most likely.

:woot: I want one of these!!!

Too bad the Pontiac logo and grille can make any car instantly uglier. GM REALLY needs to change up the Pontiac design DNA.

I can't say I've ever been impressed with Pontiac's style besides the Trans Am. This one looks better than the GTO.

It's a Pontiac Gate! G8, get it? :grinno:

I really like the looks of the G8 (more-so the Impala RWD concept). It's about time GM started bringing more cars in from Europe and Australia.

I just wish Ford would think about doing the same with the Euro Focus and the Mondeo mid-size.

True that! I dunno about the Ford midsizers though--I dig the new Fusion as much as the new Mondeo. Too bad we don't get the Euro Focus--ours is still the first generation one! And the 2008 redesign is ugly and pointless IMO.

I believe they designed a new chassis for the focus instead of using the C2(?) platform that the S40/mazda3 uses. They must have more money to waste than I thought.

I wish that was true. :( They used the original chassis, maybe with a few very minor changes. I'm still wondering why, after 10 years of selling this platform, they refuse to bring over the new one (I think it's C1). It's amazing how they can create such a great new car as the Fusion and "update" an obsolete small car that could substantially bolster sales and interest in Ford. And it's not like cost can be an issue, since they're already using the "new" (2004! lol) Focus platform to underpin the Mazda3 and S40 as you noted.
