I just got my new PC and edge pads... Is it supposed to vibrate A LOT. After like 10 minutes my hands are VERY TINGLY and feel like they need a brake...

It litteraly vibrates as much, or more than my dewalt random orbit sander on WOOD with 80 grit paper.... is that normal??

From searching, some said pad allignment had part to do with excessive vibration..that cant be the issue as i have the edge pads... Do i just need to "man up" or is there an issue?

Been a while since I first used a DA and my hands and even arms used to be quite sensitive for quite a while after. Doesn't bother me anymore now, maybe because I now use a Festool Rotex but I don't think it's that much smoother.

Took me forever to get past the vibration mine makes. Until I got used to it, the PC would vibrate my hand until they tingled. LOL

Yeah, you just need to cowboy up lol

Takes a few vehicles to get used to it. I dont even notice it anymore.

Ditto! After a few uses, you don't notice it anymore....or is it that the nerves have already been damaged and are left with no feeling? :D

I have found that holding it by the handle makes it worse for me, so I now use my PC by "palming" the top of the unit just above the pad. There is a nice space for my fingers to curl in underneath, plus I can apply more even pressure than with the handle, if that makes any sense.

One reason I have switched to a Makita rotary - PC makes a great paper weight. About all I use it for now is applying an occasional glaze to a car.

ok...glad(I suppose) i'm not the only one.... I work in construction and don't consider myself to be "sensitive" to stuff like this....but damn!!!!

My hands tingle like hell!! lol...

Ok...i'll wipe my tears and man up now.

How are the edge tech pads different from the other pads on the market? Do the edgetech pads have an alignment hole to center the pad on the backing plate? I have a first generation Potor cable never noticed any problems with feed back from the pads unless they were misaligned. Are you sure you got the right model PC?

What size counterweight and pads are you using? I have the Sonus 5" backing plate with Sonus pads, the 7336 PC (heavier counterweight than the 7334) and have no big issues with vibration. Sure, after doing a whole car my hands feel a slight tingly buzz, but it's not anything like what seems to be described here. I also use the handle more often than not.

Most people seem to buy the 7334 for detailing, I wonder if the heavier counterweight that comes with the 7336 wouldn't help with vibrations on most standard pads?

I've never tried the lighter counterweight, so I'm just speculating.

I don't use the handle either. It will just take a while to get used to.

Nor do I. I can get more even pressure just by putting my hand on the top. You do need to go to the hardware store and get 2 (one for each side) bolts to put in the holes. The cover does not sound good vibrating. Especially to a customer and his Mercedes!

Make sure you have the 6" counterweight installed, not the 5".

My hands never feel tingly.

Mine vibrates a little bit, but not that much.

Something does not sound right!

Are you centering the pads on the backing plate?

Call up Adams or Classic Motoring and ask their opinion.

Hmmmm. Interesting...

I'm using the 5" counterweight that was supplied. The edge pads use a unique system with NO backing plate...It is ALWAYS centered...

This is some serious vibration...Starting to think i need bigger counter weight? Seriously, my hands tingle BIG TIME after 10 minutes of use.....and like i say, i work on my own cars, and do construction everyday..... I'm not the lotioned hand, computer working, office guy.....

So, with the 5inch weight, you're using the PC 7424 or a clone of it. The higher the speed the more vibration right? Also, the larger the pad, the more vibration.

Your practical solution, since you already have the Edge pads, and you don't want to buy smaller ones, is to add the heavier counterweight.

Here's a link to the counterweight you'll need. 4 bucks plus a bit for shipping isn't too bad.
