New Paint - when can I polish/seal?

I just realized I posted this to the wrong forum. Well, that my one dumb move the day.

Guys,

I know that I'm probably beating a way dead horse but I'm getting ready to purchase either KLASSE or BLACKFIRE to use on my Dark Green Metallic AC Cobra. I know that both are outstanding products but was wondering if anybody had any ideas, comments, etc. Plan on topping either off with Pinnacle. I value you guys opinion very much. It is really nice to go to the forum and talk to people theat don't think of TIDE as something to wash your car with.

I would go for the Blackfire. It leaves a shine like Klasse but also has the wet look of carnuba. Klasse looks really good topped with carnuba but Blackfire looks like it is topped with carnuba anyway. I have 5 coats of Blackfire and just put on a coat of Souveran today. :) It looks sooooo good. Blackfire is just an awesome product all around. You loose the beading that you get with Klasse but after a layer or two of carnuba the beads come back. It is awesome. :up

THanks

I'm kinda leaning to BLACKFIRE. I plan on using the PINNACLE CLEANING LOTION prior to the BLACKFIRE/KLASSE. How did the BLACKFIRE go on. I wil lbe using it be hand.

Did you get my SECOND reply to your e-mail. I have no idea where the WORDS in the first one went to. Will be passing through SALT LAKE CITY sometime in late summer [have relatives in RIVERTON] on our way to YELLOWSTONE, TETONS, & RUSHMORE. I'll let you know later exactlly the date so we might be able to meet each other [Will be driving the Venture van and not the Cobra, only downdside.

I have to go with Blackfire. Both are great products but heres hwy i like the BF better. The shine is far better. Deeper and wetter. Looks similar to- two or three layers of SG topped with Blitz, but it actually looks even better because the color isnt darkened as it is with Klasse/Blitz, so it has more "pop". BF is far easier to work with. The instant cure times simplify things. Slickness as you know is an issue, but if you use a good car was (the concensus seems to not be the BF wash), and you layer the BF like 2 or more timesm the slickness issue is lessened. Also, slickness isnt that important to me anyway.

Blackfire goes on just like Klasse. A nickel sized spot in the middle of an applicator and then you apply it in small circles. It buffs off a lot eaiser than Klasse too. You are really going to like it.

I got your second one. Sucks having to rewrite something long like that, doesn't it. Too bad you won't be bringing the cobra. Oh well. Soon enough I'll be working on ours. Blackfire is going to look unbelievably stunning on that green cobra of yours. I would love to see it.

I had the opportunity to try out both products on our 1990 Integra. My suggestion is to buy Klasse. Both products are great, but Blackfire just didn't work out for me and the Klasse just amazed me more. You probably read the archives regarding the shine and slickness issue with Blackfire already, but not everyone is having this problem, so it's a tough decision to make. Good luck!

I would go with Klasse, for me BF's gloss and slickness just doesn't last very long. For light colored vehicles i would use Zaino, it lasts longer than Klasse or BF and it is very very slick contaminants just don't stick to it. But on dark colors Klasse looks best, in my opinion.

Thanks guys. The Corvette pics are awesome. My Cobra is painted the same color, POLO green. I end up doing about 30 to 40 car shows a year so i want something that will always look good [upkeep is not really an issue because we spend 8 to 10 hours a week detailing it out anyhow.

OK, since Andre brought it up, have you considered Zaino? I just put it on my other car. Will be switching to it on the Vette soon. I really like the product. Still like Klasse as well.

Since you have used both, what is your opinion about Z and K? What are your likes and dislikes?

Off the top of my head:

Z Likes: everything loved the way it went on and off. Very easy to work with. Very impressed with the shine. I have washed it twice and the beading is incredible. I have found I am a fan of slickeness and Z provides a super slick finish on top of the above items. Need more time for durability opinion.

While it will in no way deter my use; the whole mixing the ZFX now the clock is running deal is not optimum in my book. Having said that the results are worth it and it just adds to the detailing process.

I'm ready to try the other Z products since these have worked so well.

Klasse: well it was my first (tear drop wiped away). This will stay on my Odysssey. No dislikes here, have mastered (in my own mind) the SG application. Currently still experimenting with SG on top of BF.

That's the best I can get out for tonight.

:)

Nothing beats the deep wet shine of Blackfire. After five coats my black car looks like liquid.

SteveMor, if upkeep isn't an issue and Zaino isn't being considered, then I would have to say BF. Freshly applied coats of BF provide a pretty impressive shine.

My computer sorta died last night while attempting to attach a copy of my Cobra. THe Polo Green on the Corvette looks fantastic. Like I said in my previous post that is the exact color my Cobra is painted.

I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your opinions and comments.

Blackfire: Fairly easy on, easy off. Can do multiple coats in one day. The shine is very deep and dreamy, can't be beat by any wax or other sealant. The best as far as shine goes. Durability is questionable, though my last 2 washes did very well with Z7 instead of the Blackfire Shampoo. Optically clear and does not change, but maybe enhances metallic paint. BF Polish is excellent prep. BF QD is super duper excellent!

Zaino: The easiest to apply and remove. Must use ZFX to do multiple coats easily in a day and to skip Z1. The shine is very reflective, not as deep as Blackfire or Klasse. Durability seems to be very good. Optically clear. Not sure about Z5's swirl hiding ability yet, but some say yes and some say no.... You must use a 3rd party product to do prep work. Z6 QD is excellent.

Klasse: AIO is easy on, easy off. Great shine. SG is easy on, but not as easy off. Multiple layers tend to darken car and hide metallic flakes, but also hides paint imperfections. I use BF QD with excellent results. Have experienced the "Klasse Haze". Not a total failure of the product, but a definite problem that I have seen personally.

If you could give me a product that is easy on easy off like Zaino, with a shine and prep product like Blackfire, and durability like Klasse and Zaino.....well that would be the perfect product.

It's funny how many have different experiences with the same product. bigboyhf was reading yours going "yep, yep...right up to metallic flakes". On the color in question I have found SG gives a bright metallic flake effect. I started my "yeps" right after that.;)
