New paint....polish or wetsand?

My friend and I just got done spraying a bumper for his girlfriends integra. We used single stage paint(paint and clear in one). Now we are wondering if we should wetsand it with 1000 then 2000 then buff it with my 7424, or just buff it. Also, what products are recommended for buffing new paint....we need something we can pick up locally because we plan on buffing it sunday. Thanks for the help!

The reason for sanding is to remove the level of orange peel and other defects such as paint runs etc. I would suggest starting out with 2000 grit paper and see where you are at. The pc is not the best tool for removing sanding scratches so it will be quite a bit of work. As far as products to pick up locally, maybe some 3m stuff or meguiars. Unfortunately, I do not know enough about either to comment on how they will perform via PC.

The paint is a single stage...paint and clear in one step

Please explain how a single stage paint has color and clear all in one. Single stage paint = no clear coat, just base coat. Each one is sprayed individually because they don't mix(unless it's a colored tinted clear).

Some ss is *very* fragle with regard to having it's "build film" abraded, dunno about the Omni but I sure wouldn't wetsand it without a) knowing what PPG advises, b) having a *very* good reason to do so (runs, OP), and c) knowing what you're doing.

I've removed 2K scratches by PC/hand but 3K (or even 4K) ones would be a lot easier to remove.

PPG Omni Single Stage Paint

I tried searching this produst and it's either a single stage w/o clear or a 2 stage w/o clear. So, you really can't have a single stage paint that has clear in it. And, if you have a 2-stage system, the base color is sprayed 1st and then the clear after. Their not mxed together and sprayed.
