New P16S Carnauba!

Excellent

Today I was cleaning up my work area...was bored doing this so I went on a mad chemist spree after reading this thread last night..I wanted to mix something up to try on a panel I have to try produts out when I get them...

So I mixed up some Collinite IW,,NXT liquid and some UPP. 2 ounces of each in a squeeze bottle. I shook it up real good. They seemed to be mixed well.

The smell was more of the collinite as it has a strong solvent smell.

I went out to the panel and did as Scottwax did with his prep, as he and AnthonyO are the masters of paint prep. Also a few others here are also Damn good.

I first used OPP then AIO then applied the Franken Mix, let sit. I got a phone call and had to leave. I got back 1 hour latter took the dog for a walk and almost forgot about the experiment I was doing. I went over to the panel and removed the product, took a little effort but not much, as I think it sat long and also was very humid.

I was amazed at how well it looked and slick as pig snot. I leave this panel out 24/7 so will see how it lasts..

If the paint does not fall off I may try it on my son's motorcycle next..This stuff looked real good on the panel..

I can't take any pictures at the moment as I lent my Digital to a friend going on vacation..but will when he returns..

will add another coat tomorrow and then leave it to the elements to see how it lasts

Why? Looks wise, they are not as far as the price and brand can suggest. In fact, I would venture that very few other products could face Souveran as good as the TWPUG can (CMW, #26, maybe the new Natty's blue) Yes, Souveran has all the nice extras but looks alone the TWPUG can give it a nice fight. Personally I don't think this is a desirable combination because of the fact that both of them are very similar in kind of look / durability and application.

My combination would be Collinite 845 IW with TWPUG. The depth, application and shine of the TWPUG combined with the glow and tough durability of IW would be a winning combo! Ah, and neither of them is expensive so I can experiment. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :faint:

Alex

Edit: The combination by AL-53 also sounds like a winning combo.

How did I miss this the first time around?? (oh, I guess I hadn't joined yet)

LOL, it's GREAT. :2thumbs:

Curious about the results on the mixes with Collinite, as it's about the only carnuba that will give any durability here in Arizona in the summer.

Long time since, and what did I found :) This thread is awesome!

Not to steal anyones idea but I actually came up with an idea to mix #16 and #26 a year ago but I was nailed to the ground ( Link ) ...

Well, encouraged by this thread and all you other nuts I finally did my thing, I now have a nice mix of about 50/50 with #16 and #26. It's green, as expected when you mix blue and yellow and it smells like #26.

As soon as I have time I'm going to test this out, I really want a DEEEEEEP and wet looking finish. .. I plan on polishing with either Speed glaze or 1Z Polish and then glaze with #7 Show car glaze and top it all off with my waxblend. Any suggestions? Should I add a sealant in between?

What about mixing up some sealants? Might give UPP and WG deep gloss sealant the 'frankenmix'!

I'm no chemist, but I don't think mixing sealants would be as easy and simple as mixing pastes. I would suspect bonding issues between the sealant polymers aside from bonding to the paint. I would also suspect and the particular characteristics of the sealant polymers to be compromised. Mixing synthetics is a bit less trivial than creating a frankenwax. It would suck if you mixed some sealants and it coagulated.

Well, all that's true, but at the most, you'll be out a couple of ounces of sealant. I don't think anyone expects serious durability out of the cocktails that are being created.

don't get me wrong...this is a great thread. i didn't mean to be discouraging in my post...i just wanted to point out that it would probably be better served to play with pastes than sealants as the results would be more predictable. i'd be interested to see what a sealant combo would produce if someone decided to try that route.

Fuji,

Understood.

Y'know, with my luck, if I ever try this, I'll just happen to pick two sealants that coincidentally are the two halves of a powerful binary explosive.

"Hmmm, and ounce of x, and ounce of y, shake well . . ."

BOOM.

Al,

I'm not sure you're aware of this, but we're still waiting to hear the follow-up results of your experiment. :grrr

Sweet !!! But what the heck is that nuclear red crap in the fridge? Looks like you would need a vice and a pipe wrench to get the cap off:soscared:

Homemade Hotsauce. It sits in the cold cellar so the caps often rust, too much humidity.

LOL...I forgot about this experiment....well It looked good at first....and after sitting a few weeks in rain and a few washes...it was like it was gone...I think the mix of wax and sealant did not take well...I just took the 3 products that were on the bench and mixed it...I also had the bottle i mixed it in sitting up on the cabinet....it was like cottage cheese after siting a few years....it was a bad mix..but was my first try and a failure...lol.....best to try sealants to sealants and waxes to waxes....no combos....
