New Menzerna

Well.... tried the new Menzerna from CMA today.

Car is in great condition & just clayed last month.

Started with a base of Meg DACP, then Menzerna.

Menzerna Intensive Polish - Used with the new "Orange" CMA pad. White cream goes on easy & breaks up really fast. Almost dry after 2-3 passes with PC. They tell you to wipe with wet MF 50/50 Alcohol & Water to check results, then final wipe with dry MF. Came off with moderate pressure, but left light haze...instructions say thats OK & Menzerna Final Polish will remove. Agressiveness - I would say between DACP & GEPC.

Menzerna Final Polish - BLACK cream. Used White CMA pad.

Really have to work product fast or it will dry up in a hartbeat. Goes on easy, have to use a Damp MF to buff it out. Agressiveness: A light SMR less aggresive than Meg 9

Bottom Line - Nothing to write home about. Light SMR/Cleaner.

THE HIGHS - Breaks up fast & can do the car quickly (Hour)

THE LOWS - Light hazing. In fact, the part of the car with only DACP it had more gloss.

On a scale of 10, I'd give it a 8 - much better products out there.

Anybody else out there tried it? What say you..

Nice review, i just found out about this stuff about 10 minutes ago. I think i'll have to give it a try. FI-II is great, but is becoming a pain to remove. Your's is the first 'so-so' review i've read (which is good, i think a lot of people will tend to slant their reviews towards it's good stuff just because it's new). I just have one question...

You test new products on a ferrari!? Now there's a true Autopian!

You really need to follow the Intensive Polish with a good quantity of the Menzerna Finishing Polish using a grey pad. If you don't use enough, you won't get good results. Don't allow the pad to dry.

I find Menzerna very easy to use. I wet sanded a fender on my 993 over the weekend to remove severe etching (chemical overspray from the Navy base). Menzerna Intensive Polish on a yellow cutting pad had no problem removing the 1500 grit sanding marks. After final polishing with Menzerna Finishing Polish, the fender out shines the rest of the car, so it looks like I'm going to wet sand and re-polish the whole car. I will set up and video the process.

I tired the yellow pad first on the Intensive Polsih, then went to their new Orange Pad, which I thought produced better results.

The Final Polish is rated with a grit of 2000...seems it needs a little more "umph" to it.

If I don't go boating tomorrow I'll try a grey pad & post results.

Still not a bad product, but just one I think I'll add to the shelf.

I've been waiting for another video, i think that topic is probably the best you could of chosen too. I get a lot of people asking me how to take car of more severe issues with their paint, i just haven't really had any expierence though other than what i've read. I'm hoping that some instructional video will at least give me a place to start. I still make all my friends watch the buffing video before i allow any of them to use my PC.

the color of my final polish is.... white # PO 91 E

intensive is the black color # PO 87 mf

Hmmm

My intensive is white, and my final is black....

(but i havent tried them yet)

DaveB - You are right about the gray pad!

Funny thing is that CMA web site suggests a yellow pad! I went to a white pad because I wanted to polish, not cut and thought yellow would be to aggresive.

The gray pad produced a nice gloss finish....but I also boosted the speed on the PC to about 4.5 - 5.0.

F 355 just a few questions. I was going to give ( still am once the weather warms up) but I wasn't going to use the intensive polish as it may be too harsh. But maybe I will give it a shot with an orange pad. My paint isn't in bad condition but what were your reasons for using the intensive polish as opposed to just using the final polish.

Also what was your next step after the final polish? Your paint looks great and I am curious what you put down after words? thanks

I tried a wide range of pads before coming up with the right combo. Also, I'm using a Porter Cable rotary, not my PC dual-action. As a note, I used EO Wet Wipe-N-Shine to dampen my pads prior to use. It provides good pad lubrication. I do not recommend running foam pads dry.

I used both because it came in a sampler kit. Use the Intesive first...despite it's name...it really is pretty gentle and complimants the final polish (they work well together)...

I'm entered in a Concourse event this weekend. Nothing but F-Cars and Lambos. Going to do AIO + UPP + P21S. Going out on a limb as I never tried this combo before...we'll see...

If you use Menzerna (as David states above) use plenty of lube. I used water but had to Heavily spray the pad with each application. This stuff really likes water and dries out fast so you have to keep the pad constantly moist. Would go with his comment of using QD instead of water..

I'll be waiting for those pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going to rejuvenate a semi-old thread...so the general opinion is yellow cutting pad for the intensive sprayed pretty liberally with EO WWS, then H20 and alcohol spray w/ MF, check results, then grey finishing pad sprayed liberally with EO WWS? Thanks.
