I've always been a carnuba luber but I had to see this Zaino

thing for myself. Plus, with the Ozone layer diminishing I want

the UV protection. Hope I don't become a Zainiac!

Finished the ZFX/Z5 Z6 and am about to rub off the ZFX/Z2.

My question for the Zaino experts out there is what is

the dusting & QDing method of choice for the Zaino world.

My rep said Sal says No Cali Dusters.

With my carnuba method I would CD [ and get micro streaks

in the warm wax] and then MF some OG Show Off and the micro streaks are gone. All about 10 Mins.

Any input or threads on this?

I use Z6. Just spray it on and wipe off with MF. I make one pass with the MF to soak up the bulk of the spray then flip the MF and make another pass to get the dry shine. The Z6 really slides around on the Z2'd surface so you'll eventually find it doesn't take a lot.

I've also used Meguiar's Final Inspection and other non-silicone or non-carnauba sprays. I can't tell a difference between them and Z6 other than nothing smells as good as Z6. I can do the whole car in less than 10 minutes. I've also tried spraying the MF towel and wiping down the car in sections but it feels like I'm just pushing in the dust.

I stick with Z6 over Zaino but have never had any issues with a Cali Duster and Zaino.

Don't use other QD's because you will just hamper the bonding of future layers of Zaino. The system works well together. Stick with it.

I have used the cali Duster a few times on the SS at <em class='bbc'>indoor[/i] car shows with no probs, I also have used it a few times if the car had set in the garage for a few weeks and hadnt been drivin since I last QD or put on a fresh coat of Z. I would not drive around town for a few days then come home and use it on the car....Just my .02$

Great!

If you guys feel confortable with the CDuster/Zaino

then I'll go along. I'll keep my old regiment, just w/Z6.

Thanks,

Never had any problems with using a California Duster over Zaino. With regards to the quick detailer, I sincerely don't think using another quick detailer besides the Z-6 will hinder any layering of future Zaino coats. This especially holds true when you consider that we're going to wash the car before you apply a coat of Z-2 or Z-5. So when you're about to layer, I really just like to wash with the Zaino wash and then quick detail with the Z-6. I'm now ready to apply Z-2. Laters

Hi All,

I found this forum while doing some detailing research and it turns out that I'm a local :). The information here is first rate so I had to join and I will try my best to contribute.

This all came about from economics. I had been a car wash client for over 25-years, and in my neck of the woods we have what I consider to be the best car wash I have ever had the pleasure of using - Pronto Car Wash. No swirls, no nothing - don't know how they do it but cars come out of there looking really nice. I've had all kinds of cars go through there, from Toyota 4-runners to a Porsche, Navigators, and a few MBs, the latest a GL450. I use SUV's because I do photography now and I need the all wheel drive and the space inside for my prints, which are quite large. My latest ride is a 2011 X5 diesel - love it!

That said, my kids are now driving and I'm buying cars for them, the latest is a new 2011 Jetta. I figured out the car wash expenses for all of us and it came out to around $2100 or so a year! So, having the extra time now, I started looking at doing all this myself and after a lot of research I'm making my cars look better than factory new with albeit some up front expenditures. But, I take pleasure in doing it myself and heck, I always need more exercise!

My next step is a DA machine and I'm glad I waited because the new Meguiar's micro fiber system seems to be just what I need. My first post will follow shortly and it is about tire detailing. Just some personal observations.

Thanks again for all the great info!

Best,

Jose
