Hello everyone!!!

I sure am happy I found your forum. You guys rock!

I just ordered my PC 7424 on eBay.

I appreciate all the threads concerning detailing.

Ain't the internet great!

Only a few years ago we had to stumble through

books and magazines to learn things that can be

found here in only moments!

Now if I can figure out all your acronyms and abbreviations... ugh!

Welcome to Autopia. :welcome

Nice looking car. How do you like it?

What part of Kansas?, I was stationed at Ft. Riley with the Big Red One. Kansas has nice people.

Welcome and that's a great looking RX-8. Have fun with the PC, it does take your details to the next level. What did you do to mod your foglights by the way? Yes the internet sure does make it a lot easier to find info. Have fun!

Good to see another Totoland member on the boards!

I live in Overland Park (when I'm not traveling on airplanes) and detail customer cars as a paid hobby.

There's tons to learn here. Autopia is by far the premium site for knowledge and variety.

Have fun and jump in with questions.

Great looking black paint you have there. Over 75% of my detail customers have black cars and don't know how to keep them scratch-free.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I live and work in Hutchinson, KS.

It's my 3rd RX "Rotary Vehicle" so I guess I'm hooked... I only have minor complaints with Mazda,

nothing I didn't know prior to it's purchase... The paint or clear-coat have orange peel (Mazda is famous

for this). Rotary engines are thirsty and are designed to use (not burn) oil that is injected into the engine

since they don't have rings like conventional piston engines.

The fog-lights (OEM) don't turn on unless the headlights are on. I wired them to the

ignition "on" position so they can be used as daytime running lights and will turn off

when the ignition is in the off or acc position (no dead battery that way).

Thanks for asking!

Hey, not many people here from Kansas. I'm out in Garden City. Welcome to Autopia. Hope you've got deep pockets. How's the Senior Open affecting the town?

Ahh....! The smell of Depends and I keep tripping over walkers...

Senior Open Members pretty much stay to themselves...

I haven't seen anyone "famous" in town.

Deep Pockets??? Why???

Thanks for the welcome...

Hope my humor isn't too stiff for the members here... :getdown

Welcome! You've got a sweet ride there. I'm from Western KS. Don't live there anymore and don't miss the dust at all. It was hell keeping my Camaro clean. Lots of fond memories of playing in state high school b-ball tourneys at the Hutch JuCo.

Lots of great info here. Enjoy!

Where in OP do you live? I live in Lenexa. I joined Autopia a few weeks back. A just got a black PT Cruiser the first part of June and love it. First black car I've had in a while and now I remember how hard it is to keep clean!!! Any tips/tricks for getting swirl marks out? May want to meet with you to see what you think and what can be done if that's possible.

Thanks!

Hiya BlackPT! Good to hear you got a new PT Cruiser and black to boot! I'm located just north of I-435 and the Roe Ave exit in an older part of O.P. Most of my customers are fairly local (except for 2 that come from Topeka...both black cars).

Getting swirl marks out: Here is a Porsche 996 Twin Turbo I did not too long ago. The car only has 1,500 miles on it since 2001 and the new owner (my customer) decided to "wash" it. The results are as follows:

After taping and polishing the car (about a 6 hour project to get the swirls out), here's what he ended up with:

And, finally, the finished product:

If there is any ritual, it's get the swirls out, use a good sealant (I like Wolfgang) or carnuba (there's tons of good stuff out there), and WASH THE VEHICLE PROPERLY!

Holler back some time. I'm going to be doing a 1972 Ferrari Dino pretty soon and it's all original paint. That will be time consuming and extra care will be taken, but it should be fun.

Welcome RX-8 and BlackPT too.

Hey Totoland I work at Yellow, 435 and Roe. It'd be cool to have a KC meeting sometime.

That would be fun. I have some folks in the Mustang Club that would attend. It would be nice to have a host retailer or garage be the sponsored site.

Talk to ya later
