Why, hello autopians ;)

Happy holidays to you and your families...

I've been a big time lurker and just joined up today to get some help with making the right choices..

So, right now I am on my second BMW, I had an 06 330ci ZHP, black, but that time has gone, and I don't own it anymore.

I own, currently, 08', 335I, Alpine White, coupe...

I'm really obsessed with the mirror look of darker colors and not sure if I'll be able to achieve that on a lighter color, but maybe you guys can chime in on that. I'm also ordering some DPE wheels, (They are on order.) so the finish will be matte black w/ chrome 3.5 rear lip and 2.5 front.

I'm also going the way and going to buy a buffer, this will be my true first attempt at detailing fully after doing research... On my old car it was just the normal wash/dry... wheel/tire treatment.... and wax here and there.. but I find myself really becoming interested in detailing, so I'm here to learn and use my resources this site gives me.

Here are the products.. I'm looking into:

Shampoo: Poor Boy's - Super Slick and Suds

Foam Gun - Gilmour Foamaster II

Quick Detailer (Days after the wash) - Poor Boy's Swipe & Wipe

Polish - PO106ff Ceramic Clear Coat Polish ~ Am I only suppose to use one polish? or?

Wax - Natty's Red Paste Wax

Wheel Sealant - Wheel Sealant

Tire? - Bold 'n Bright ~ tires only right?

Glass - Invisible Glass ~ I've heard this is good for tinted windows..

Interior - Aerospace Protectant

That's all I got so far.... I'm not worried about the engine bay right YET. It's new and crisp.

As far as washing machines, towels, buffers.. I picked so far:

Buffer - Flex XC 3401 VRG

Pads? I'm unsure how that works.......

Drying - Waffle Weave Drying Towel - Maybe I'll invest in the vac-n-blow in the future......

Washmit - Sheepskin Wash Mitt

Buckets - I've always did the two-bucket wash.. soap/water...... but will I need that since I'll use the foam gun?

As of a light, I have one of those powerful lights that you use when you put up tile, not sure the extact name but it looks like some of the lights i've seen some of you guys use in pictures......

Maybe the only thing I need to get is one of those seats?

Thanks for the help guys...

:getdown

Did you just bump your FIRST post from 2 days ago to the the top of the list ... ... WITH YOUR SECOND POST ... and ... tell us?

I can't decide how I feel about this.

I'll get back to you in 2 days.

I guess that wouldn't be right either ... so ... your list seems OK to me - although I'd find a tint-shop in the area and see what they recommend for cleaning your tint. Lots of stuff you can and can't use, best they examine and tell you.

OH, and as for the 'seats' ... REAL detailers don't use seats until they're done with the job, cleaned up, tools put away and they're enjoying a beer looking at themselves in the reflection!

Here are the products.. I'm looking into:

Shampoo: Poor Boy's - Super Slick and Suds One of my favorites

Foam Gun - Gilmour Foamaster II Good

Quick Detailer (Days after the wash) - Poor Boy's Swipe & Wipe OK but leaves something on finish.

Polish - PO106ff Ceramic Clear Coat Polish ~ Am I only suppose to use one polish? or? Great but get SIP too

Wax - Natty's Red Paste Wax don't know. Are you looking for a beauty wax or one that lasts?

Wheel Sealant - Wheel Sealant I like to use OS which is much easier to use

Tire? - Bold 'n Bright ~ tires only right? Great stuff

Glass - Invisible Glass ~ I've heard this is good for tinted windows.. good

Interior - Aerospace Protectant GOOD Stuff

That's all I got so far.... I'm not worried about the engine bay right YET. It's new and crisp.

As far as washing machines, towels, buffers.. I picked so far:

Buffer - Flex XC 3401 VRG Excellent choice

Pads? I'm unsure how that works....... 6 or 6.5 inch two each cutting, polish, finish

Drying - Waffle Weave Drying Towel - Maybe I'll invest in the vac-n-blow in the future...... you need soft drying towels. I love my vac n blo but use a metro blower for drying only (two machines)

Washmit - Sheepskin Wash Mitt

Buckets - I've always did the two-bucket wash.. soap/water...... but will I need that since I'll use the foam gun? Depends on how deep you get into the foam gun thing

Do you have clay, assortment of MF towels for inside, paint, polish removal, etc?

Sealant or are you going wax only?

What car(s), paint color, garage, etc.

so far you have a good list going.

I bumped it because it was lagging on the third page. I wrote this post on christmas eve..... the system lagged up and I had to PM the OP to get the post straighted out...... Sorry if you 'feel' as I did a wrong move, I do not, I'm part of alot of other forums and bumping a thing after 1 day is acceptable, this was after about 2.

Thanks for your feedback, or maybe that wouldn't be right saying?

-Clay I have some left from my zaino kit when I purchased that along with the lube, also looking to purchase something new, maybe you can shed some light on that...

-Sealant, please explain more about that.......

-Car, is an BMW 335i ALPINE WHITE, always garaged expect when out:up

Sealant for white. DG105, Ulitma is my current favorite. Many other options.

Clay...might want some mild clay like the sonus green for more frequent use.

What microfiber towels do you have for drying cleaning, polish removal, wax removal, etc?

nice car by the way.

Thanks......so sealant over wax?

I'll never get that mirror look (like black cars) on a white car, right?

Towels:

DI Microfiber Waffle Weave Drying Towel

^Drying

Glass Polishing Towel

^Glass

All purpose

^All/Removal

Ultra Plush Two Sided Towel

^Quick Detail

What we think?

Sealant?

Ultima PGP is one. Check my post above. Durable stuff. Lots of good sealants out there. The Ultima stuff is my favorite thus far. JW, Zaino, and many others sealants are pretty amazing as well. Check them all out in this forum.

I like the PGP for the look, feel, compliments, and durability. Oh. And the wipe it on and you are done. Wait twelve hours and repeat. I like four good coats with a big fluffy MF hand polish after the fourth. Amazing stuff!

Check out my reviews here. I will be doing a far more thorough review starting spring 2008 throughout the year. So far it has held up well.

looks like you are set on MFs.

solid black paint can show great depth and photographs well. white can look great too but IMO is harder to capture by camera. i find it hard to polish because the defects are harder to spot than a dark color. i always wind up with a stiff neck from turning my head to get the right angle. also harder to see where i applied or didn't remove the LSP.

I use sealants a little more than waxes but go back and forth. Experiment and find what you like. that is part of the fun.

Depends on what you are looking for; gloss, durability, protection, etc.

Post some pics for us when you get a chance

Heres some pictures..

Anything better then MF towels?

Thanks!

Great looking car.

Keep you MFs clean and don't QD or touch your car when it is dirty.

Wash carefully and you won't hv to polish very often.

NICE!! Good color choice!! I would top it with Danase Wet Glaze, then 5050, or possibly go with Prime Acrylic topped with AJT.

so let me get this straight.....

wash/dry/glaze/polish/sealant/wax? :buffing:

I'm new sort, sorry for all the questions.....

Wash/dry/polish

Then you can either glaze/seal/wax or glaze/wax or glaze/seal or just simply wax or seal
