New Meguiars Products

I guess Meguiars is going hard after 3M's body shop dominance.

I wonder how well the system works on cured paint and if it is rotary only.

I thought it was going to be something huge. Maybe it is still. Looks like a pad dependant product my like Optimum Compound or polish. Hope they have figures out a better backing plate for all of you.

Well it will have zero use for most of us if not all as it is intended for, according to Mike Phillips, freshly cured paint in a body shop, not OEM or cured paint.

I think it's interesting that Megs didn't work on a new system for their detailers and enthusiasts rather than body shops. It seems all the bodyshops around here go to the local detail supplier and just ask for the cheapest crap, they don't research products and what not.

It will be interesting to see what these products do for the market, however it is unlikely many of us autopians will see a need for these products in our arsenal. Thank goodness for the RDF Lineup geared towards Autopians :bow

I am underwhelmed.

If you read between the lines, the new products are for body shops that want adequate results quickly and cheaply. I don't know why they bothered hyping it on what is primarily an enthusiast forum.

:werd: My thoughts exactly

The idea of using one polish/abrasive and a different combination of pads is not new in the professional market.

PPG released System One and Norton also have there own system.

For fresh paint the abrasives maybe strong enough to cut using wool however what if you have blended in colour from a guard to a door and have to buff the cured paint so as to match faded old paint with new paint..

Does this mean that you have to use a different system for the harder, cured paint?

Good in theory but I'd love to see how it works in a real world application.

Any other opinions?
