New Megs DA MF system help!

My question is: Does anyone have experience with this system? What does the finishing wax consist of? In other words, If I wante to apply a sealant to my vehicle do I do that after or before using the finishing wax. I know it has carnuba in it, so I would think the sealant would go first. But... it also has some other stuff in it, so Im wondering if using a sealant is even compatible with this system? Hope someone can help me out...Thanks
 
The Finishing wax is a very small amount of abrasive package, some polymers for protection paired with some carnauba as they say.



Some people will tell you, YOU CANT TOP IT BECAUSE IT HAS CARNAUBA(sorry capitals) but realistically the only way to tell is to try it. An example of exception to the rule is Poli-seal by Optimum. It too contains carnauba but can be topped with whatever the person wants. So just because "the rules" say "no sealant on anything with wax" the reality is its not that cut and dry.



In my experience you can top it with almost anything, no problems. We sell alot of these kits and actually haven't heard anything yet about incompatibility issues. I would say try a section just to see - think it should be fine though.
 
Thanks for the reply! The thing im confused on is that if it has carnuba in it, how will a sealant be able to bond to the paint? Isnt that what a sealant needs to do? Im new to detailing, so forgive me if I dont say the correct jargon...lol

If you plan to use a dedicated sealant your best bet is to use a dedicated finishing polish too, like M205 or PO85RD and not the D301. D301 is an AIO (All in one) in that it cleans, polishes, and protects all in one step. That's why it's geared for production work. If you insist on finishing with the D301 and still want to top it with a sealant, you can do that, but your durability may suffer a little, but as Mike noted, it's not like it's going to fall off the car because it couldn't "bond" to a carnauba.

good stuff... I know its an all in one... but so is Klassee AIO and they have a sealant glaze that goes over the top of it. So im assuming the klasse AIO doesnt contain carnuba? Im just trying to figure out a process that will allow me to use the Megs MF system with the klasse SG. I have been using klasse AIO and SG for a while, and love the result, but I really like the megs MF system too... ahhhh the dilema.

KAIO and SG are designed to work together, just like D301 is designed to work with D300.



If you have your heart set on the SG I'd suggest trying it on one panel to see if it streaks or causes any issues. It should be fine but better off trying it on one panel first. Still, If you want to get the most out of the SG, I would suggest using a different polish then D301 for finishing. You could also just wipe down the car with IPA after the D301, but then again, that defeats the purpose of the product. A dedicated finishing polish on a foam finishing pad will likely give you better end results too.

I've had no problem applying M21 V2 or UW over D301. There are no bonding issues with these and that may just be due to the fact that Meg's makes these products and likely engineered them to be compatible.
 
ChevyFan- If I were gonna use the KSG after M301 (and I wouldn't; I'd just use another finishing polish for a number of reasons, not just the bonding issue) I'd at least try doing a quickie pass with KAIO to see if that "cleaned away the M301's stuff" sufficiently.
 
IMO choose one or the other, if you want a topping wax, use something else. The abrasives in the finishing wax would cut right through the sealant.
 
what would you suggest. I just wanted KSG because of the durability. Im pretty sure that the D301 dosent last that long. KSG lasts so long. I was thinking of maybe topping it with collinite 845 or something like that... what do you think
 
Has anyone even mentioned or considered that "Finishing Wax" the second part of the "semi" volume marketed "DA System" may not have any appreciate amount of WAX in it? Has it been considered that Finishing Wax might be the name so people do not have to play any sort of guess work. Think about carnauba wax, and what would happen with microfiber it if was consistently jammed into those fibers...would you be able to wash them in the washing machine.... and yes, I know meguiar's says there is carnauba in it..



I am only saying this because we use other sealants over top - not something like KSG because I consider it specialized.. but all the other heat of the moment sealants and many more.



We have never had issues with it being topped no streaks or issues of haze or anything... gotta consider things outside the box.



Disclaimer: we use, recommend and sell a ton of this system.. not trying to knock it just getting extra oil in the "thinking gears" for everyone to consider.
 
The fine amount of cut in D301 would polish your (Sealant) when both are Lsp products, wax over sealants are popular but a striaght "Wax only" product has no cleaners/polish in it. I really like D301 in and of itself alone, and would use another "Just wax" product over the sealant myself.
