New Idea for a sub forum

Hey guys im really not sure where to post this but ive got an idea for a new sub-forum. How about making a forum for all of the deals/sales/clearances we find. Whether it be at a local store or somewhere online. So if target is selling nxt glass cleaner for a dollar, buy it, come home, write a post saying that the target in your area is selling nxt for a dollar and we can all get in on it. Is this a good idea? I always see posts online where guys find something really cheap but by the time i see it, its too late.

That is kind of a cool idea actually.

I think that its a good idea but if I was a sponsor here and paying for it this would draw business away from my product line..thats the only thing that I see about it that's not a great idea.

beemer people already put links for other items and a good majority of them are not wax/sealant products.dramm shutoff, creeper seats,Q-Disconnects,plastic spray bottles, HD links,garden-n-gifts etc. Maybe Dwayne could request a rule when submitting links to other sites. I find myself looking up old post that people supplied links to detailing tools..

I can kind of see problems with that. Posting a good deal at Wal-Mart turns into posting a good deal on Wal-Mart's website turns into posting a good deal on xyz-detail.com... The line has been drawn pretty firmly on the whole selling thing I think. It's a good idea, but it isn't really something that fits in the current DC atmosphere.

please excuse my ignorance, im not too keen on the whole sponsor stuff and how it works on this website. why exactly would it be bad for someone to post a deal they found on xyz-detail.com?

Thanks, been lurking for a while but finally registered after talking with Dwayne. Where you at in Chicago?

The follow up posts on this thread are right on. It's about sponsorship. That's what gets the bills paid. I don't see this one happening.

I am sure that the sponsors appreciate your sense of loyalty. Detail City is a great place for car care product vendors and manufacturers to advertise and we hope that they are reaping the rewards that come with supporting this website.

With that said, as long as we aren't dealing with a filthy, stinking spammer or a shady product shill, members are and have always been encouraged to be helpful. It's all about intent.

If the member has good and helpful intentions then they are welcome to make recomendations. If a member has a bone to pick with a sponsor, that's bad. If a member also profits from making certain product or vendor recomendations, that's bad. If a member is an undercover shill, I will show them the door.

It would be great to see Detail City members 100% loyal to Detail City sponsors, but that is not realistic. It certainly isn't official policy or enforced. For those that are loyal and have chance to make a purchase elsewhere cheaper, you can always call, email or PM your favorite sponsor and give them an opportunity to price match. Just make sure that you are looking at the bottom line price and factor in all the discounts and shipping charges when doing comparison shopping. $10 with a 10% discount is better that $9.50 and no discount.

Bottom line from The Fuzz. Buy what you want from who you want. Be helpful and unbiased and everything will be just fine.

My bad. I missed the whole part about the sub forum. I think that would be just asking for trouble since we are always having to fend off spammers and shills anyway. It would attract them like a moth to a flame.

Not up to me though. My inheritance money is running out and I need to get a job pretty soon. I will be retiring from Detail City around the end of March.

I think the sub forum would be a great idea to share deals that we find at wamart, autozone, etc. But just like the fuzz said, it would cause more trouble then good with the spammers who would flock to it.
