new guy here with questions

Hey guys, im new here and new to the entire detailing thing. Atleast using a orbital buffer. I have always been into keeping my cars nice and clean, but jsut always used off the shelf products and did everything by hand. Well I bought a random orbital buffer here a while back, and it just didnt cut it for me. So I just purchased a used Porter Cable 7336 off ebay that needs some freshening up, new brushes I think. As you can spin the counter weight and then it will run. I also ordered some poorboy's world products in a kit which included the following:

16 oz. Poorboy’s Light Abrasive Swirl Remover SR1

16 oz. Poorboy’s Medium Super Swirl Remover SSR2.5

8 oz. Poorboy’s Natty’s Blue Paste Wax

16 oz. Poorboy’s Spray & Gloss

16 oz. Poorboy’s Spray & Wipe Waterless Wash

CCS 6.5 inch Gray Dual Action Finishing Pad

CCS 6.5 inch Orange Dual Action Light Cutting Pad

CCS 6.5 inch White Dual Action Polishing Pad

2 Cobra Microfiber Towels, 16 x 16 inches

12 oz. Pinnacle XMT Polishing Foam Pad Cleaner

Along with some Tropicare TC-2.5 wax, TC-3 sealant, and some of there quick detailer.

Here are a few pictures of the fine scratches that my car has. It almost looks like it was sanded with 2000 grit sand paper and they didnt get all the scratches buffed out. I tried it by hand with some swirl remover and with my cheapo orbital buffer but it didnt touch it. Any advice from you guys, or if you think the above products should do the trick?? Pictures might be hard to see the scratches but I think you can get a small glimpse of them.

rodneypierce- While I've never used any of the products you listed, I find that I need pads smaller than the 6.5" ones in order to do correction via PC. 4" pads work best for me in that situation.

Well, i think your right. I need to order some 4 inch pads and a 4 inch backer. I cant seem to get ANY of the marks out of the clear with the 6.5 inch pads. I think I might also need a heavier polish maybe??? opinions please!!!

The 2.5 w/4" pads (try white first) will get you out of a myriad of situations. 2.5 may mar, so expect to follow up with 2.0 or 1.0.

Well, just put through an order for 2 yellow 4 inch pads, 2 orange 4 inch pads, a 3.5 inch backing plate, and some Optimum Polish II. Hope this with the combination of my SR2.5 and SR1.0 will get rid of the scratches.

I woulda picked up some 4" polishing pads too, but see how your larger ones work.

You *will* want to use something milder than the orange pads to get a ready-to-wax finish.

yes, I figured that my 6.5 inch white pad and gray pad would work fine once I get the bulk of the scratches gone with the heavier compound, then Ill use the 2.5 with the 4 inch orange pad, then the 1.5 with the 6.5 white pad, then seal it with the gray pad and apply a couple coats of nattys blue wax. Hope that does the trick. I would like to have this cars paint as close to perfect as possible by the spring time.

rodneypierce- See how the larger pad works for that, could be fine.

The big trick for colors like that is getting the your view and the light right for inspection. It's so easy to miss something that suddenly appears when the lighting/viewing distance or angle/whatever changes!
