New England Winter product show down: HD Poxy vs. FK’s 1000p

Thanks, Supe. I appreciate your comments. Yes, I'm a big advocate of 1000p with 2 applications. To try to be fair to Poxy, I wanted just a single application of each. My winter conditions and frequent washing will put any product on notice >> wimpy performance will not be tolerated :)

Here's another update just 4 weeks after the last. We've had virtually no winter conditions, I haven't even put winter wheels/tires on the cars yet. Strange weather, cars have been unseasonably clean!

The beading still looks pretty much the same as last time. Gloss is excellent on all panels following a wash:

I've noticed that Poxy's beading goes away pretty fast. Now tell me; is this a true sign of the protection diminishing?

That's the $64,000 question, isn't it :)

Keep in mind, the car just came in from being driven in light rain, so the air flow did move most of the water off the hood as I drove home. The car had been sitting in the rain all day and the beading, front of car vs. rear of car, was very similar. The Poxy is doing well. I don't have any concerns at this moment :)

Good to hear.

See, I like the properties of NXT. The sheeting effect. Get that water off the paint! lol.

Both products are doing well, the Poxy continues to retain a slight lead in terms of slickness, but winter really has not happened for us this year. I think it's supposed to be 60F tomoorrow.

Interesting about the slickness diff....

Thanks for doing this post Tom - I've been wanting to try the 1000p for a while - I have poxy but was unimpressed.... And since I'm local to you this post has more relevance to me :-)

I used it over last summer on a lapis blue porsche - daily driver. I found it hard to buff off without holograms/residue, relatively short lived, and I had the opposite experience with a bird bomb that you did - it seemed to INSTANTLY etch. I went back to collinite on the porsche and have had no issues since...

Maybe I'll give the poxy another shot on a silver car and see if it makes a difference for me... :noidea:

Super, that's strange. Did you use Uno as a base or something else? Do you know which version of Poxy you have? I think mine is II.

I had another bird doodie experience this past week and it was a fairly warm day. The birds got nearly every panel on the car and left a couple of serious ploppers on the hood. It was bad enough that I gave some thought to getting it rinsed off immediately. I didn't, but did clean up when I got home 6 hrs later. Most of it rinsed off with hose water pressure, but the two spots on the hood were far more challenging to remove and required some effort. Again, no spots or etching remained. Everything cleaned up without any lingering damage. I was relieved.

Tom - I polished with HD UNO - also unimpressive (on that car). Have used uno a bunch more and been fine with it, but for whatever reason it doesn't take well to that paint, which is strange...

I think I have the first version because I don't see anything special called out on the packaging to indicate otherwise...

How do you currently feel overall Poxy vs 1000p?

There is so little to differentiate them at this point in time. The Poxy still feels slightly slicker, the 1000p retains its much-tighter beading. Apart from that, they both look excellent. I don't believe anyone could find fault.

Not surprised that Poxy is hanging on, holds up really well for me down here. The beading isn't a super tight as some other products I've used, but the slickness hangs on and it looks great.

Very true. It seems like the Poxy is more of a sheeter - - very impressive to see the hood "dry" itself as you drive along in the rain.

I do notice the metal flake really stands out on the Poxy panels.

Shots from tonight:

A bird got the car again today, had to rinse when I got home. I guess I didn't get all of it, but we're supposed to have a bit of rain tonight/tomorrow:

That won't be an issue. The spot was very light...i didn't rinse long enough to remove it. My bad :)

We continue with a remarkable winter season - - record (low) snow fall and record (high) temps. There have been weeks where the cars don't even need to be washed :Fermani:

Did you use the MF pad KAIO? How did that work out? Did you notice any gumming or issues during application?

No, we didn't have any issues with that MF pad.

I have very little experience with that type of pad so I can only say it worked as I would have expeceted and there were no problems.
