New Doors Opening

Recently (today), with the detail on the Eagle Talon, new doors have opened to a total different level of clientel. The owner of the Talon is a Network Engineer for a local internet company, and his friend owns a HUGE investment firm. Just so happens the owner of the investment firm was giving him a ride to pick up the Talon.

He saw my work and immediatly wanted 3 cars done, two of which are worth over $200,000. Now this isn't something that comes around everyday. Its clientel like this that I've been working towards for many years.

Wish me luck people, I guess its now time to get some insurance. :)

Nice, now all you gotta do is raise your prices :). You do better work than me, and I charge twice as much. It's much better to work 3 days a week @ 200 a day than 6 @125, if you ask me.

He's being charged a little bit more due to the style of cars they are.

The cars are a 1250 hp 93 Supra, a full blown Lexus SE or SC500? His other one is a Lexus SC something or other. (anouther expensive beast.)

He said he knows a couple other people in the ranks of Lamborgini and Porsche that are looking at a detailer that can provide quality work, and can maintain it as well. :woohoo:

I cannot wait to see these details now. The sound of a 1250 hp supra is making me drool. Good luck with trying to get the owners of the Lambo and Porsche to let you detail those cars as well.

Supposudly, they've been watching my work and a very impressed. Many people don't even consider my age anymore, and respect that I am saving my money and putting it towards me schooling.

The supra is supercharged. **Drools**

Hey, this is a great opprotunity for you to network with you clients. I know you dont expect to be detailing the rest of you life and with customers knowing the right people, you can get places that way. It's who you know bro, take advantage of this time.

Good luck.

That's cool that the people respect your details and you and don't consider your age. I'll be 16 July 24th and one of the reasons I don't do detailing in my neighborhood is because I think people will think I'm too young to do a good job. I do detail my friends and relatives cars and they always appreciate my work though.

Since this guy is a investor, down the road before I head off to medical school, I was planning on setting up a shop here in town. Maybe he'll be a potential investor. :spot

Most people think I'm at least 18-19. If they don't ask my age, I don't tell them. :2thumbs:

Kudos man.

Keep to your high level of work and be firm with your prices. Don't let people push you around.

Also, just to keep this in mind. I've heard the "I want you to do my other cars...I've got friends who would love you" etc speech a ton of times. It doesn't always go through...people are big talkers.

I highly agree with that statement. Nowadays you have to pursue and chase these deals professionally.

Oh my god, tell me about it. I'm not a "pro" but I have heard that DOZENS of times and have left brochures with people to give them, etc...

The phrase "talk is cheap" definately applies to detailers - Forget about it.

Good luck Steve! It's word of mouth and the type of work you do to back it up that'll help you expand. Hopefully, they'll all come through for you. :xyxthumbs

I've already got a call from one of the guys he mentioned. He says he wants to see how the investor's supra turns out before he has his car done though. :2thumbs:

Here is a picture of the supra for good reference. :)

Looks like you're gonna need something to get rubber out of the wells and rear 3/4 panels :).

The wheel wells will have a extra thick coat of undercoating. No way I'm scrubbin all that **** out. :nervous2:

But as far as what I'll be using...I was going to order some Souverian or maybe a new tub of P21S. As I'll probably be doing regular maintence on it.
