New Cyclo owner

I know what you mean, they (Gloss-it) are mighty proud of their products. But, if they deliver, then it's worth it. I mean, haven't we all bought stuff - cheap and pricey that was about as effective as a fart in a tornado.

JCturboT- Glad to hear you picked products that are Cyclo-friendly; I wouldn't be surpised if the UC is better for that than the M105 but that's just a guess. Good that it "stays wet for a good long time", that's what you want with the Cyclo.

While UC *MIGHT* do some filling (and I really don't know...but most products do conceal at least a little bit), I dunno if I'd worry/care about it. I know it's more of my Autopian Heresy, but I don't always IPA/etc. and it's never a problem. I've used 845 over stuff that fills with zero problems (the stuff stayed filled/looking good) but you just never know whether any fillers will prove long-lived until you try it and see; some do, some don't.

On the Pilot, *I* would just wax it with no IPAing. Your wife's thinnish-clear, soft-clear, daily driver SUV? I wouldn't drive myself nuts getting all Autopian about it but would rather take the approach Mike Phillips has often advocated: "Does it look good? Then OK..". In othe words, keep it simple and don't look for ways to make the job harder even if that means not attaining "true" perfection (scare-quotes intentional).

Accumulator,

Yeah, I am really liking Ultimate Compound with the Cylco. I like that I can work it so long and just finish up "every so lightly" with the weight of the Cyclo to polish up nicely.

I actually did try a IPA wipedown with the Pilot and out in the direct sun and saw maybe 2-3 small swirls but I ended it there and finished up with some Collinite 845. Besides the dent in the rear quarter catches my attention more than some small swirls. :chuckle:

I know what you mean about Honda's soft paint/clear.

It took very little to correction time with the UC and a orange Cyclo pad....think maybe I should try a green pad instead?

Now, my Brothers Cadillac was the polar opposite of the Pilot... hard GM clear that took some "leaning" on the Cyclo to correct several small scratches & swirls but got the job did after about 4 passes.

The VW Jetta I did yesterday was also surprisingly soft clear too-probably between the Caddy and the Pilot.

I think I will pick up some Swirl-X and start with a green Cyclo pad on my 'Bee and see how that works on the small swirls I have.

JCturboT- I wonder which green pad they're selling these days; I have two different ones, both from Cyclotoolmakers. The original/"regular" green pad has a decent amount of cut and I've always liked it. But I also have some "double sided"/Edge style green pads from them that feel a whole lot softer (haven't tried these yet).

The original green pad works well in cases where you can rely on the product to do the work rather than "pushing" it with an aggressive pad.

Interesting that the Cadillac's clear was so much harder than the VWs!

Tee, hee! I know that I have a few things I've purchased and never used (Meg's #16 anyone), but I know that you have to have more than I do!!

Just had to do that. I was in the mood for a joke.

Yes, I will post pics of the 1er soon. I'll get my daughter's camera. I am fairly technology-starved, as you can see from all of my posts.

Hey, Moe!- Heh heh, nobody's more tech-starved than yours truly these days, my pals call me "Suburban Amish" :chuckle:

I still think you'd like that #16 on your BMW!

Hope your retirement is less hectic than mine is.

I have a Cyclo and have had good luck with Meguiars UC/SwirlX combinations. For a one-step, I have used PoorBoy's Polish w/ Sealant. There is also Gloss-It polishes that apparently work quite well with Cyclo machines.

I also use this for family/friends and the occasional outside detail.
