Ok, so it's new to me, it most certainly isn't a NEW car.



It's an 88 Civic Hatchback STD. 152k on the odometer. The engine runs really well. Though it does need a valve adjustment. The drivers rear wheel bearing is bad. The CV joints need to be replaced/rebuilt. The windshield was smashed up by some punk kids that threw a rock at it (and the windshield had JUST been replaced). :mad: The interior sucks....and theres some rust on the body. But other than that, it's good. :D



Of course, It's pretty much a complete loss as far as detailing is concerned.. I'm going to try to straighten out the body as best I can, and strip off the rust, and give it a repaint. Hopefully everything goes well. I've already made some improvements. I bought racing seats for it, stripped out all of the interior, repainted the wiper arms, took off the bumper sticker, replaced the broken taillight, broken front combo lights. riveted on a home depot specialty front lip, put on some better wheels, added speakers that weren't ripped to hell, etc, etc.



It's got a new battery. The clutch seems good, brakes need new pads, and probably front rotors, but otherwise are strong. The radiator looks like it's been recently replaced. Good compression. The muffler is missing.. and shifter bushing needs to be replaced. Struts are good.



But it's not a bad vehicle, all things considered. Especially for what I paid for it.





It's my new project. I'm building a rally car. At first, it will just be the cage, seats, harness, brakes, and a full custom designed H&R springs, skidplate, and other shields. Plus I have to buy a spot welder for the chassis.



How much did I pay for it?





$185.00

At least it is something I can drive when it's threatning to rain so I don't spoil my RX-7s detail job. :)

lol it's pretty funny! I thought you were some crazy guy who wanted to detail that thing at first! lol :)



I say go w/ plastic mesh side windows all around so they wont break if you flip over. Make sure the chassis is tough as it can be, because it sure is gonna see some harsh times on the track! Make sure there isnt any rust on the chassis either, dont want the car 2 break in 1/2 or something!



But for $185 it's a hell of a deal!
 
Hey, I also notice a little scratch on the shift knob!! Good luck with the car, and show us a picture after your done.

Here's my plan besides the obvious detailing needed.

Since the seat is silver, duct tape is the obvious choice for repair. An exacto knife, cardboard, and paint will make some nice door panels. Don't forget some big *** floor mats.



And of course, the one thing I learned in life is if you have a crappy car, put some expensive rims on it and you're set. :xyxthumbs
 
you know, that reminds me of my Caviler, the cav is in a little better shape but still.... The Cav is the best car I ever bought, I bought it for $200 and put on a new head gasket. Been driving her for over 5 years :) Great rainy day car
 
LOL, you know, I just realized this thread is almost 3 months old... I wonder how this project's coming along?



$185 for even that ain't bad at all. Since you have replacement seats already, you can always throw household carpeting up on the doors to cover them...
 
Personally, I think you should have packed it full of explosives, and blown it up and some kind of event for show...



Then you could probably have earned some more money to get a better car :p
 
B18C swap (or at least the DZ motor). 130 hp or 170 (B18C) would really help in a car that light. You can probably get a lot of interior pieces at a wrecking yard.



Add front and rear upper strut bars, along with a lower tie bar, Suspension Technique's front and rear anti-roll bars, Eibach sport springs and some super light 15 x 6 rims.



Even just the DZ motor should get you into the 15's and the B18C maybe a 15 flat bone stock.

You forgot the $3000 booming stereo. Speaker installation should be a piece of cake.
