New car, need some advice?

Hey guys, I'm kind of new to this forum, but have been into detailing for quite a while now. I am absolutely hooked on clean beautiful cars. As a matter of fact, a clean beautiful car just found itself a new home in our garage. A silverstone 2003 Nissan 350Z track model. Wow, it is some car. The dealership put this clear bra on it. The best way I can describe it is like saran wrap for the front. How do you all feel about these? I personally don't care for it, but I can understand that it will help the front end from getting all buggy. The second is, should I use Souveran or Paste Glaz on it because it is a darker silver color. How soon should or could I wax it too. I've never had a brand new car, so I didn't know. Thanks a bunch, you all rock!!

Hi Greg,

Congratulations on your new 350Z. Must be real nice! Well, I would put a nice coat of wax on it as soon as possible. You don't have to wait to put on your favorite wax or sealant on your new 350Z. It is not like a freshly painted car from a auto paint shop. Which needs time to cure so the paint needs to breathe.

If you are going the wax route, I would recommend the following combination which has worked with fabulous results. Because you have a new car, you wouldn't need anything overly aggressive.

Pinnacle is a good product, however, it is a expensive for my taste. I did try both Pinnacle Souveran and Paste Glaz and found both to be good. But for the price and the similarities between Pinnacle Souveran, Paste Glaz, and P21S/S100 I didn't think twice to make the switch to P21S/S100.

Personally I like S100 SEC which is a great light pre-cleaner that will remove existing wax and light swirl marks. I would then follow-up with S100 Paste Wax. If you are not aware P21S and S100 is basically the same product but marketed for different segments. P21S = auto and S100 = motorcycle. However, S100 is quite less expensive to it's P21S counterpart. So, if you have a local Harley Davidson in your area that would be the first place I would start to pick-up the S100 SEC and Paste Wax.

You will be amazed with this combination. The gloss, shine, and the easy on and off application of the S100 Paste wax is no sweat.

Hello Greg, and congratulations too. Those new Z's are really nice!

It sounds like you have Xpel or some version of this on your front end. I think it's a good idea myself, as it protects the paint from flying debris too. Run a search on "xpel" to find a bunch of threads.

It seems to be the age of P21S/S100 these days, and if your car is garaged and you can polish/wax it at least every 2 months or so, it's probably a great choice. You may also want to consider going the synthetic route, but you've probably thought of that already. ;)

Greg,

I personally would keep the front end protection until it either looks a little rough or you are ready to part with your new baby.

Then peal it off and it should be like having a brand new front end.

Rick

congrats on the Z:up with silverstone you could prob get away with either one of the pinn products, however the PPG is alot cheaper, check out there site, www.pinnacle.com i curently use S100 and love it, but am ordering some PPG soon

Greg, congrats on a new car! :xyxthumbs

I just have a few comments on clear bra protection: never use any abrasives on it, be careful not to scratch it and don't let wax to accumulate on the edge. Use wax or sealant that won't leave white residue, P21S, Souveran,Klasse and Zaino come to mind.
