New car! From silver to black.

Today I traded my silver '06 Mazda MX-5 for a black '06 Mazdaspeed 6. I made sure to mention NOT to wash the car. They were surprised, but fortunately agreed.

Anyway, I'm guessing I may miss how easy it was to keep the silver looking great, but I'm also looking forward to being able to get that depth and wetness from black that I just couldn't get with silver.

I washed and spot-clayed to get some of the more offensive deposits off. Once I clay and polish the entire vehicle I'll post some pics. The paint appears to just need a serious claying and a mild polish, with some additional attention to a few areas.

In addition to washing and spot-claying, I clayed and polished about 1/3 of the hood and the difference in smoothness was incredible. I can't believe how much crap gets imbedded in the paint of a new car. Fortunately it polished up nicely.

In the very short time I've driven it (about 25 miles), it's a blast.
